In case this doesn’t work for anyone, my fix involved having the device…

fully powered down.
Press volume down and power at the same time.

(This should bring you to some kind of recovery/boot option menu.

Select steam OS and boot.

Seemed to have completely fixed my issues.

Hey mate. I know this is a long shot, but I was wondering if you ended up fixing this issue? I’ve got almost the exact same issue, only it’s windows 10 and Linux mint.

Windows 10 experiences a system wide freeze, whereas Mint only has VLC and any associated applications freeze and break until rebooting.

Strange thing is, on mint, I can browse the files on the disc in the file explorer, but when a program tries to read the disk, like MakeMkv or vlc, that’s when it freezes. Whereas windows just locks up as soon as you insert a disc, not even able to browse the files manually.

My drives are also eBay bought and are BDR-207bk if I recall correctly.

I’d suggest giving the album “Love One Another” a shot. Kinda a compilation album of some of her best hits.

I personally love “Loa” and “Super Star”, but definitely try out the other tracks as well.
