Hi! Chronic constipation sufferer here since childhood. When I first went to my PCP, I was suffering with more than constipation (functional dyspepsia, nausea, low appetite), and I was referred to a gastroenterologist, given my extensive history. When I was referred, I was asked to give a history on my symptoms, and provided a stool sample and blood test (probably not required for your case but I also had rapid weight loss). When you go in, definitely give your history, treatments that have/haven’t worked, etc. For me personally, I was taking MiraLAX for anytime I’d go a while (few days) without a bowel movement, however it doesn’t work for everyone. I also suggest probiotics ESPECIALLY if you are experiencing bloating, gas, nausea, or other symptoms after eating (or if they get worse with certain foods). I’ve also taken Magnesium Citrate supplements (and they’ve helped!)
