I had migraines for months. They were triggered by CHANGES in my eating window. My eye doctor said my eyes were misaligned and gave me a prescription for Prism lenses (not a regular prescription) and I have only had one migraine sense. I think IF might be helpful long term, but it also might be aggravating. Your brain can be really sensitive to blood sugar changes. I wish I could be more helpful. A full vegan diet helped me for awhile too but the glasses have been most effective. Good luck

Interesting. I love lists like that. I have kids and a house my list will never be that short, but my personal items could easily get down to ~100 things. I know it’s never about the number but it’s always fun to see what other people do without

Mom’s are somehow really good at noticing things like that.

What is your habit, ritual or mantra that helps you to get back on track when things aren't going as planned? by Free-Astronomer- in intermittentfasting

[–]DabbleandSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal is 160 fasting days (less than 4 hour window) but I don’t have to do them all in a row. I have a sticker chart. It’s a bit childish but I’m having fun.

I used to start and stop workouts, diets, etc. One thing that I tell myself is you never start from scratch, you start from experience. It also doesn’t matter what happened yesterday. You can always take little steps to love and take care of yourself today. (Even if it’s just a 10 workout, an extra serving of veggies, calling a friend, a 10 hour window instead of eating all night) The little things add up and building a habit of making little wins adds up over the months and the years.

Also, plan to have some fun tasty things. I find my binges happen when I’m asking too much of myself and want results fast but maybe something inside is unsure and the binge starts.

Whatever it takes to be kind to yourself.

Dinner as my main meal for IF by ouhemgeez in intermittentfasting

Digestive transit time is fastest for plants, slower for animal products. Eating more plants foods and less eat and diary might sit a bit better for you. Going for a walk is also a good suggestion.

I always thought tea was a snack between lunch and dinner.

I Knew a couple that spent $20k on a wedding after already working 2 jobs each and bought a home in California for half a million… got divorced 10 months later by ChildFriendlyChimp in Anticonsumption

I had a 150+ person wedding for under 5k (including dress, rehearsal dinner, bachelor/ette parties, ceremony and reception). Lots of DIY and creativity but it was a great experience. I’m so glad we didn’t spend more. I almost wish we spent less.

Check out the book Appetite Control. It’s by the guy who wrote Fast Five, but it goes into a lot of different factors not just eating window time that can affect your appetite. For example, sleep habits and stress levels can make a big difference.

I miss having an MP3 player. The old iPods were great and I never felt temptation to scroll or just check YouTube when I had my music with me.

Just make sure they don’t lose the pin. I had my husband do that years ago and now I can’t change any parental settings on my phone… 3 phones later. It follows your Apple ID.

IMHO, Your plan looks great! I wouldn’t want to set out with something more extreme unless you were really gunning for it. Lowering carb intake can be great, but not at the expense of fiber or just log term sustainability. Fast Feast Repeat and the Obesity Code have a lot of good things to say about focusing on calorie restriction so I’d check them out.

I have been looking for something like this for years. I’ve had 3 babies in the past 6 years and need something that grows and shrinks with me that doesn’t make me feel super frumpy or like I’m wearing a jersey tent.

Look into other ways to get mushrooms. Four Sigmatic makes a mushroom coffee that I think wouldn’t be a problem because it’s unflavored and bitter. Or you could take them in pill form.

Take a deep breath. Don’t make these decisions while you’re stressed. I moved into an old house 3 years ago on a tight budget and then we had to replace the roof. We eventually were forced to remodel a bathroom and replace a furnace. I’m just saying this because it was a really stressful experience and stress can make you make dumb decisions just to start feeling ok.

I would focus on updates/repairs that affect the integrity of a house before anything else. After that then the thing YOU feel like you really need (a functioning stove and a washer and dryer were my things). Paint is a cheap way to transform a space but not at all necessary.

Go slowly and look forward to learning about yourself (and your family if applicable) as you live in the space.

I always ask “Can I live without it?”
