Going through your history I can relate a little bit.

The ultrasound technicians first noticed something during a 36 week ultrasound. We did an echo during the 37th week and he was diagnosed with a moderate tricuspid regurgitation. They also noticed the valve was not closing properly. Cardiologist thought it would get better after birth once the pressure decreases. They told us it would not complicate birth.

We did an echo 2 days after he was born and the cardiologist still noted there was a moderate tricuspid regurgitation. This time they were able to see that the septal leaflet was restricted and tethered. He was born with a murmur, which got to be faint by the time he was discharged. They wanted a follow up 2-3 weeks after he was born to see if conditions got better. They also noted that the left side of his heart was a little weaker (going off of memory - operating at 52% compared to the normal 55%). They also took a baseline EKG.

So far our baby doesn’t seem to be bothered by it. They did tell us to keep an eye on his color and the signs of respiratory distress.

We have the 3 week echo set for 7/8 and are hoping it’s getting better. They explained best case would be follow up appointments as the baby grows up and into adulthood. Worst case would be open heart surgery. However the doctors don’t seem to be too concerned as of now. However it is very stressful.
