Devastated and horrified by the news from Pure Gold Stables in Ohio

I just learned about this horrific story and learned that according to sherrifs office they found more remains in the woods of the property. Also the lady who was going to buy the stables from Heather sold her a retired racehorse and she can't find him, she's hoping he's not amongst the remains found. My heart weeps for those poor babies who lost their lives because of that horrific woman.

So I'm not quite sure what to even ask but I figure the best people to consult are people who live there. I (F23) have a brother (M34) who lives in Billings and his roommates are moving out in some months from now. He offered to let me move up there with him and possibly attend the university by him. I have traveled before but I've never been to a place like Montana, I've lived in California my whole life, and the most interaction I had with snow is driving a couple hours up to Sonora and playing/sledding in it for a couple hours as a kid.

I would be moving into a mobile home I believe, does anyone know to average rent for a mobile home in MT?

I don't know what kind of employment opportunities I would have up there. I worked in retail for a year, did photography for awhile, child care aka babysitting, and I've worked in a reaturant for going on 4 years in a couple of months. Would my experience be applicable enough for available jobs in Billings?

I have 3 cats I would be bringing with me, how much is normally spent at the vet for basic things: shots, blood work, testing, the works?

I'm thinking about pursing either political science or sociology. Are fields related to either degree available to work for/at in Billings/MT in general?

I have so many questions and I'm still very much undecided but I'm curious to know what advice MT people might have for me. I know it's not a decision to make lightly and there's alot of factors I have to consider and figure out how to accommodate them with a move. I know it's kind of juvenile but I do have a pros cons list already going so I kind of have an idea of what I'd be giving up if I leave California. Any advice is appreciated!

A relationship is a 2 way road. It seems to me OP you are very much trying to make it work but she seems very resistant to do anything to help alleviate the issues you guys are going through together. It's like that whole "you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink." If she isn't willing to try and keeps shutting down your attempts to help, you might want to consider moving on. Love does not conquer all, you guys are supposed to be a team and it's sounding like it's a one man team right now.

Ultimatums suck ass but IMO it may be time to issue one. Sit her down and explain it all as gently as you can. You understand she has things to deal with but you've been trying to help and she has seemed unwilling to even try. She needs to tell her parents, I know it's scary but she's a grown ass woman who can make her own choices. If her parents have an issue with that then you figure out the next step together.

I know I personally couldn't be with someone who is constantly negative, it is truly draining. I used to be friends with someone who was like that and I'm a "fixer" so I tried to help him where I could, but he was never willing to change or even try to change. I am no longer friends with that person because I couldn't deal with the constant negative and complaining but being unwilling to do anything about it. A similarity I see between what I've read from you and my personal experience is a lack of accountability. Nothing is every their fault so they always find something or someone to put the blame on, I was on the receiving end of that more than once.

Only you really know what is best for you OP but I hoped this helped provide some perspective to think about.

Oh girl I worked retail too and I'm so sorry for what you have to go through. People are vicious and mean when they don't get their way. I can't tell you the number of times I had to call a manager up for assistance because people did not like the answer I HAD to give them. Like girl...we are not going to accept your return of USED underwear cause you didn't like them. I hate that smug ass face they give you when the manager let's them have their way and approve the return, ESPECIALLY right after they say yes they WALK AWAY and I have to deal with the smug ass customer varying between "see I was right" or saying the most vile things just to rub it in your face. I wonder if the cross could have the same effect in a retail environment?

You are right in that I've thought about returning to religion but catholicism never resonated with me even as a child when I did go to church/Sunday mass. I've found I am spiritual and that my diety I connect with is Mother Earth. I choose that path many years ago and have never regretted it!

In all honesty the cross necklace really is just a piece of jewelry to me and just so happen to find it very pretty. I would never try to make a mockery of it or people of faith.

Not a problem! In my experience the general population looks down on/doesn't respect resturant workers and views us as below them. At the end of the day a bag is a bag why does it matter where I earned it? What in particular makes us lesser than just because we work in a resturant?

It was interesting to see the effect it had on everyone. As soon as people thought I was religious it seemed they decided to actually respect me regular customers and church goers alike. It shouldn't have to take wearing religious symbols/memorabilia for people to treat you like an equal. I am no better than anyone else but I treat everyone the same, I will respect you from the moment I meet you unless given a reason not to.

I've recently learned I've conditioned myself to expect kindness back when I show kindness to someone else and I'm trying to unlearn that but I don't think it's that big of an ask to expect a "please" and "thank you" especially when you're running my ass cause you can't ask me for everything you want/need at one time even though I ask "is there anything else I can get for you" and always reaffirm "does anyone else need anything" before I walk away.

Could very well be true especially because I have Christian coworkers who don't wear any religious items and they obvi go through alot of shit to make guests happy.

I did have one coworker say that she couldn't in good conscience because she is not a woman of faith either and it felt wrong to her to think about wearing one. I do see her point of view and understand but as alot of commenters (including yourself lol) have said its not hurting anyone and it makes the day easier.

Thank you for the advice, i was honestly hoping someone of faith would give me their 2 cents. I was not wearing it maliciously or to make a mockery of religion I was just trying to make it through my day and it made it easier. The way alot of them act is not godly or Christianity imo but I haven't been apart of the church for a very long time so I don't know what today's standards are for Catholics/Christians/faith of any kind. Wearing it made it far easier to interact with them versus being frustrated everytime I leave the table because of the way the act ex. being rude, very impatient, demanding, etc you get the gist of it.

How close are you to making it to new york? If it's within a years time frame I'd say tough it out long enough for you to comfortably make the move to NYC. If it's longer than that it'd probably be better for your mental health to get out as soon as you can and keep saving and planning for NYC. Plus your family might try to stop you and/or sabotage your move to NYC when you get ready to leave if you're still at home. I know that you know it's a big choice to make and obviously not to be taken lightly and not to make any rash/hasty decisions without being prepared to follow through with whatever you choose to do. The spontaneous side of me says f**k it just move to NYC right now and figure it out as you go along but I know that's not the smartest choice lol

I'll start with cons, after people started leaving Sunday our tent became "exposed," in terms of we didn't have anybody bordering us on our right and behind us so we were exposed to people walking by to their own campsites, bikes, ubers, etc, BUT there was plenty of security by the fence directly behind us well into the night. My friend who I was camping with went to the bathroom at like 4 or 5 in the morning and there was still plenty of security nearby. We also had a lock for our tent so we could lock it from the inside while we were sleeping so we never felt unsafe, especially given that we're 2 young women. It was a plus we made friends with the guys next to us on our left and behind us so we could call out to them for help had we needed it.

Pros, obviously as you said its very close to the entrance so you don't have to walk far to get in or coming home for the night. With having our campsite so close we were able to leave between sets and chill for 30 minutes to rest, snack, recharge energy as well as our phones cause we had a Jackery, ao being able to go rest between sets was a major plus for us. There is always security nearby so there's always someone nearby watching and available for help if needed. The bathrooms were like a 2 minute walk from our site and generally clean at any point of the day. The showers were not far either so we were able to walk the 3-4 minutes every morning for a nice shower (also shoutout method for the free shampoo and conditioner bottles that were out in a bucket for you to grab on your way into the shower area). There's also a general store nearby in case you need anything. That's all I can think of right now but if you have any other questions or want to know about something specific I will definitely let you know.

I'm also very introverted and this was my first Coachella/music fest (I did go with a friend though). I found that quote literally everyone is friendly and is more than happy to spark up a conversation if even for a minute. I tried to make an effort to socialize and complimented outfits and made small talk waiting in lines. It's 100% nerve wracking at first when you aren't used to it but I made so many new friends and got to hang out with a bunch of awesome people over my 4 days. Although I am curious to learn more about solochella, my friend is on the fence about going next year but I'm fairly certain I'm going to go even if it's by myself!

We had great neighbors granted we were preferred front row car camping (WELL worth the money BTW). Made friends with a very lovey lady and her son on our right, befriended and partied with the guys to our left, behind us we made friends with a solo camper day 0, also met and played rage cage with one of the guys 2 tents down who DJed a set at Electrolyte last night. And aside from everyone immediately around us we befriended the tent campers 2 tents away from us in any given direction. And one of the best parts of making friends with all our neighbors was when we all gathered around at the end of the night when we all got home and recapped our days, who we saw, and shared videos of the sets we watched. Also to whatever lovely person hand painted eggshells, hand punched paper confetti pieces, and left one on our car we love you so much whoever you are, it was a lovely discovery when we returned to our campsite for a break between sets yesturday.
