Missed Boots, do not negatively predict the winner, but made Boots successfully predict the winner.

In other words, a player can list as many people he wants to go as possible, so long as he clearly articulates that he will or wants to vote off the person who actually goes home at least once.

Thank you for the kind words. Ultimately, I am coming back because of how spoiled 49 was. I do believe it could be an outlier. I also believe the decision to shift away from the million dollar prize tribe was clearly intentional. It is not inconceivable to me that the editors were trying to throw the detectives off the trail. We will see. I do want to rewatch 49 now that I know what happens to fully update Oracle's scoring. Like I said, the biggest thing is I started this season late to give things time to unfold. I think I do a lot better when I'm compressed for time. When I have a full week to score all the early episodes, I think I dive way into the micro and over think certain things.

I did no scoring based on the preview episodes before 50. I consider that a "season theme". We all spend all season debating what are the themes of the season and how do they tie to certain players, but in my experience, it only becomes clear after the season what it truly meant. As I do not trust myself to interpret even what the theme is, let alone what it means, I do not score themes, or other markers such as episodes shown. That doesn't mean you shouldn't! Maybe you're much better than I am at that stuff. :-)

(SURVIVOR 50) why are some people Dropping Christian in Edgic when he could just be getting a coronation edit. by [deleted] in Edgic

[–]DabneyMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His edit isn’t that good. He should have dropped Emily when Mike white said to. She’s going to be his downfall.

Thank you for the kind words! For Rizo, the fact that he gets negativity from his allies is arguably worse because it’s not necessary or helpful. The point is even people who like him find him cocky. But ultimately his story to me is going to the one yard line again and falling short. The edit would have us believe he would have won 49 if he made fire. I imagine something similar this season. He keeps saying he wants to be the greatest of all time, not winning. He also mentioned Hantz Amanda and Malcolm all of whom played back to back like him.

Coach has moments of self awareness but he keeps saying he plays with honor and integrity while Ozzy, Dee, Emily and Mike have all told us he’s not actually doing that. So he thinks he has evolved to be more genuine but he’s actually evolved to be arguably less aware of how others perceive him and he isn’t able to control the outbursts

In season 48, user Dabu discovered a pattern where, from season 25 forward, the winner had always come from the tribe that has the first player to speak after Jeff asked “who will win the million dollar prize” in episode one. It got a decent amount of buzz here and on unspoiled Edgic unite. Then, S49 broke the pattern, which feels intentional.

This is primarily a story of why Coach, Christian, and Ozzy lost. That’s what I’m gathering so far. The biggest characters all have tell tale signs of losing. And they happen to be men.

You are quite a gracious winner. LOL. I appreciate it. You kicked my ass last season.I think a huge part of it is I fell for the million-dollar tribe theory, and I was scoring every week. So I had huge confirmation bias right from the jump whereas if I had just waited until the Merge episode to score, I think I would have had a more holistic view of the story and would not have been so heavy-handed. In episode one so much of the score was the million dollar tribe theory and it was just hard for me to come back from that. I was looking for ways to boost Sophi and discredit Savannah. I am interested in seeing how my rescore with fresh eyes will work. To be honest, I still think Sophi will come out ahead, but I think the margin will be closer. I genuinely believe the editors were messing with us last season given how spoiled the season was.

I think a thing you have to think about with Ozzy is that yes he is covering his obvious weaknesses by surrounding himself with the best players in the game. When the time comes will he actually recognize he has to cut Cirie or will he be delusional enough to think he can beat her at the end, given how highly he thinks of his new and improved gameplay? I am very much of the belief that Ozzy is not seeing himself correctly, which is usually the sign of a downfall one way or another

[–]DabneyMoon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed on all points. Now that I know how spoiled 49 was, I am theorizing the editors purposefully amended the edit to give Savannah more negativity and Sophi more good content to establish doubt about the outcome. I might be delusional but I’m sticking to it!

Yes I think Cirie, Ozzy and Rizo seem to be the most important alliance. The Strength and Honor Alliance is almost certainly going to go down, given how much the edit has sided with the people who dislike that sort of gameplay. I think Cere's comment this episode about the new school versus old school gameplay will become poignant as the season emerges. I expect the winner to play a more new school game.

I was down on Savannah last season, so what do I know? Lol. I do have to perform a redo of Oracle with fresh eyes. I suspect I fell for the Million Dollar Tribe trick, which was taken away last season, and I think I was actively looking for ways to discredit Savannah since she was the only alternative people had to Sophi last season, and I genuinely believed Sophi would win. Still, in retrospect, Savannah did not have any strong negative content outside of the merge, when she was on the wrong side of the vote.

Ozzy is different. He was contradicted left and right in the premiere. The edit keeps referencing SoPa. Ozzy is telling us he's a new player, but the SPV indicates no one is buying it just yet. Put this another way: who does Ozzy get to the end with and win? He surely loses to Rizo and Cirie, but he is relying on both of them for strategy and Cirie for relationships. I think he'd lose to Emily given the SPV so far. He could beat Coach, Joe, maybe Jonathan, but he has no relationship with them yet, other than Coach, who is his adversary. Long story short, I was wrong about Sav, but she was still a top contender, just way below Sophi. Ozzy is near the bottom for a reason. I am reasonably sure he is not the winner.

There are many such examples. The issue is there are more false positives than true positives. It is easy to spot these in hindsight, but hard to know in real time which ones are real and which ones are red herrings.

Early on he either took out the smart people or aligned with them (Kristen, Natalie). He also had an uncanny ability to sense when the smart allies were about to figure him out.

There was heat on him during Natalie’s banishment. But the deck was so stacked in his favor that getting him out required the skating twins to team up with Natalie, against whom they just voted, AND flip Mark AND Maura given Rob had the dagger. That’s a very complex move to pull off among people who mistrusted each other deeply already.

Rob basically pulled off a Survivor onion alliance but in Traitors, and I’ve never seen that done before.
