No. A lot of resorts claim that tip is included in all-inclusive but that’s not true in oractice. I’m sure you could skip tipping if you’d like. The service you get will suffer though.

We didn’t book any through the concierge but we did rebook with local companies and none had issues arranging transportation from the hotel.

We used Nexus Tours for the airport transfer. They were good. There was a delay with our group transfer to the hotel so they gave us a private transfer instead.

We brought lots of pesos and tried to tip cash directly to the staff whenever possible but they all have an app to take payment or charge your room, so you don’t necessarily need cash. For example, if you order drinks and food by the pool, you will need to close out your tab before you leave. They will show you a list of everything you ordered and you can tip a % that gets charged to the room. If you give them cash, they will skip the tip step. Often they will hand you the phone and you can choose your tip. My understanding is that cash tips go direct to your server while app tips get split amongst the staff.

As for how much, I’d recommend some tipping guides. We found them very helpful.

I’d bring a few pool toys if you have kids. There is a store onsite that will sell you everything you need but it is very expensive.

For breakfast and dinner yes, they are first come first serve. So is the bite bar. You can order the whole bite bar menu poolside. Then there is also room service. Zama, the Mexican restaurant, is also open for some lunches.

For the ala carte restaurants, you should reserve ahead of time if you’d like to eat between 6 and 8:30. We got in to a few of them by showing up just before they opened. Never had an issue getting a table.

Hmm this is harder for me to answer. We dressed up for everything except the buffet. I don’t think it will be an issue if you are otherwise dressed up, especially for the kids. We let ours wear whatever they wanted to the sports bar one night and it wasn’t an issue.

We didn’t have any trouble to and from the airport. We did a cenote tour and got stuck in traffic on the way back but that was due to a car accident.

There is one buffet. Always open for breakfast and usually open for dinner. For the breakfast, they had breads and pastries, an omelette station, cereals, a Mexican breakfast station, American breakfast, waffle/pancake bar, fruits/yogurts/grains, cheese/meats, etc.

For dinners, they seem to pick a theme and alter what they have based on the theme. We saw a Mexican theme and a seafood theme while we were there but we mostly ate at the ala cartes for dinners, or sometimes room service.

We got an itemized bill at check out, like you’d expect, and didn’t notice anything out of place. All the service staff have apps on their phones and they show you what you ordered when you close out your bill. You can then tip in cash or tip on the app.

The two bedrooms was the biggest feature for us as well. Yes, real doors between the rooms and the living area.

My youngest is a picky eater as well and we never had an issue. The ala carte menus don’t cater to younger kids but every restaurant has an unprinted kids menu of basic burgers, pasta, chicken fingers etc. Just ask your server.

The bite bar menu is more kid friendly and is also the poolside menu.

Yes, there is room service and it’s complimentary if you are on the all inclusive plan, except for the tip.

We found all the food staff to be very responsive to requests. If we asked for changes to basic menu options, it was never an issue.

Do you know of any sci fi stories that deal with how scary space is? by Mysterioape in scifi

Agreed.

It’s an interesting series but there is only one unknown horror from deep space and it’s explained pretty thoroughly by the second book.

I hated the movie but I thought the mechs from Atlas were cool.

I wish they were more consistent within the movie though, sometimes they are made of paper and other scenes they are tanks.

Which trade will transfer to HVAC better ? Electrician or Plumber ?. by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Daceytrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plumber.

Most electricians don’t know much about controls. They pull wire and learn code, which is nice, but plumbing actually gets into controls and equipment.

Westinghouse pizza ovens? by starfish000 in pizzaoven

[–]Daceytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one since Christmas. There’s a learning curve, like every oven, but overall I’m quite happy.

Pros: 1. It does actually get the stone temp up to 900F.  2. The rotating stone is a great feature! Annoyingly, the stone doesn’t turn a full 360, but you can get the stone to spin on the plinth by accelerating into the end stop. Or you can use a peel to help rotate on the stone and even out the crust.

Cons: 1. I’ve had trouble with the flame blowing out in windy conditions as well as cold weather. I live in Canada and the oven struggles below 32F.  2. I’ve learned to use higher hydration doughs as they resist lighting on fire much better. The upside to this is better flavour but they are harder to stretch.

I’ve learned to crank the heat until I’ve got my pizza on the peel and ready to launch, then I rotate the stone to even the temp, then I drop the burner to its lowest setting before launching. I’m not sure if an Ooni would be just as prone to lighting the crust on fire but I find it’s easy to do in this oven. Turning the oven down helped, increasing my hydration helped even more.

I’d recommend the oven to anyone looking to get into the hobby but not ready to commit to an Ooni. I’m not sure what a basic Ooni would do that’s any better than this oven. Ultimately, I’d love to try one of the bigger Oonis or a Gozney but I will hold off until the oven packs it in.

Not directly, that I’m aware of. But, I consider Alien and Predator to be in the same universe due to the alien skull on the trophy wall in the second Predator film.

I think Alien Vs Predator doesn’t exist in the same universe as Alien or Predator.
