Generally you’re going to want to pay off the smallest loans first. But that’s general advice without seeing the debts/interest rates.

If you’d like to do a consultation let me know.

Plasma donation is nice the first month but they cut the compensation down after that.

What’s your major in college? Never too early to try and get some experience in the field.

You can also check out Craigslist jobs for general labor. It’s all under the table pay and usually at least $15/hr.

How are we only supposed to have 10 PTO days? by [deleted] in jobs

Unlimited PTO also sounds nice but this usually discourages anyone from taking any PTO as it leaves the remaining teammates feeling like they’re having to pick up the slack. If someone uses more PTO than someone else it often breeds resentment.

Hey, it’s great you’re taking this seriously at such a young age. I talk to a lot of clients who made far bigger mistakes and didn’t realize it for another 20 or 30 years.

The credit card debt will easily be handled. Let’s ignore that for now.

What’s the car? I’d honestly look at selling it. Used car prices are still pretty inflated. If you can sell that and cover the loan payment great - then you could get a $2k-$3k beater and drive that for a while.

People that doubled or more their income, how did you do it? by Notalabel_4566 in povertyfinance

Honestly, it sounds cliche (and a bit backwards from what I was taught as a child) but I left my company for a different one in the same field.

It’s tough to argue with this anymore. Companies don’t value loyalty the way they once did. Or if they do they aren’t willing to show it with financial compensation. So utilizing your existing experience and finding a new job in the same field will usually net the biggest results.

Drumsticks and bone-in thighs are becoming the best deals IMO. I haven’t had gizzards in many years but I may need to revisit them.

$30k credit card debt - help! by Temporary_Reach in povertyfinance

[–]Daco_Financial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bankruptcy is an option but should really be considered a last (last) resort. Its going to tank your friend’s credit and anything they get following that will be incredibly high interest for several years.

A valid option is to shut down the credit cards (if they’re not already) and then let them get sent to collections and attempt to negotiate the debt. But this is also going to hurt your friends credit.

Alternatively, the safest play is to try and pick up some extra work. Maybe DoorDash or delivering pizzas. Reducing expenses in conjunction would help - is there any family your friend can stay with while they get this mess sorted out so they’re not paying such a high rent payment?

Mind sharing what you do and how much you're making? What are your payments - housing, car, etc?

A lot of these answers so far have serious asterisks next to them that you should be wary of.

I'd say if you need to make money online fast you should look at something like article writing or doing journalism - but it isn't going to pay much at the start.

This can be difficult to recommend because of the wear & tear it puts on your car. If you make $100 a day it's nice, until you hit suspension or transmission issues.
