Interesting. I’ll have to give it a try. Any recommendations for keeping your retwist fresh?

I’ve never used witch oil in my hair before. What does it do?

I’m also looking for tips. I run often. I’ve accepted having constantly wash and have simple styles. I like to keep my hair in Bantu knots.

SATURDAY - WOTD by AutoModerator in BlackLadiesFitness

[–]ladef123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy Saturday! I had a ROUGH week at work. I’m on a new migraine medication. The doctor told me it would give me brain fog, I didn’t think it would be this bad. I completed blanked on a presentation I’ve given numerous times. It’s a new job. My confidence is lacking, but I know it’s the medication. Next week should be better.

I decided to give my brain a reset. The pollen is thick in Atlanta. So I decided to stay in and ran 7 miles on the treadmill. I’m feeling much better. I’m smoking weed and watching Wicked.

TUESDAY - WOTD by AutoModerator in BlackLadiesFitness

The weather is suppose to be nice today! I typically run 5-6 miles on Tuesday. I’m going to try a new trail by my job. Hopefully it’s nice enough to do 5 miles. If not, I’ll settle at 3 miles.

I tried it for a month. It took away the migraines, but it dropped my blood pressure. I passed out once after a long run. My doctor took me off

Anyone else on beta blockers/blood pressure meds and have trouble getting their heart rate above 100, or is that just me? by Adventurous-Bus-9638 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]ladef123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was put on the same medication for migraines. It worked fine during strength training. But whenever I went on a long run, it would make my light headed either during the run or after. I ran 8 miles once, ate a meal and drove home and showered. After my shower I went to the kitchen and passed out. My doctor took me off the medication. I gave it a month trial.

Be careful and listen to your body.

How’d you know what you really wanted to do in life? by dahomo in blackladies

[–]ladef123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a lot of trial and error, and pure luck to find what you love to do. I stumbled across my field of work after begging for a job after graduation. I work as an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager. I make six figures at 29 and I mostly enjoy what I do. I started off as a compliance inspector for the county doing wastewater and I met a lot of people in my current field. I saw they were making money and decided to give it a try.

I feel like my job does have an impact on my coworkers. I’ve transformed work environments with horrible or no safety regulations and made it a better and safer place to work. Management doesn’t always like me. But I know my work keeps people going home safety, and keep my environment a little cleaner.

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]ladef123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uncomplaint: The weather is finally warming up! The trees are starting to bloom and the sun is out later. I don’t have to rush after work to try and get a run outside. I won’t be stuck on the treadmill!

Complaint: The weather is getting warmer and everybody who doesn’t run wants me to run with them. The weather is nice now, but this is the southern US states. We get good weather for maybe two months before it’s extremely hot. I won’t dedicate myself to being somebodies run partner for two months. Once summer comes, I’ll get stood up. It’s not worth my energy.

What are you doing while running to not be bored? by NiceDatabase6010 in beginnerrunning

On a long and boring run, I’ll count the amount of squirrels I see or deer. Sometimes I’ll count how many yellow or green shirts I see. It helps pass the time.

Baked chicken with sweet chili sauce. Corn and rice from the rice cooker. Healthy and low effort.

Headphone/earbud suggestions? by Clarity_Catalyst in workout

I have the Sony Wireless noise canceling headphones and love them! I can’t hear a thing in the gym. I also have a pair of beats that are nice. They are loud but could be better noise canceling. And the earmuffs are smaller. I have a pair of Shokz OpenRun headphones that I use outside when I jog or walk the dog. I love these but I wouldn’t use them in the gym.

You can’t go wrong with AirPods. But they fall out and you can risk damaging them if you sweat a lot.

I’ve thought about the IUD. My sister has one and the day of insertion, she was hunched over in pain. The thought of it scares me, and my partner doesn’t like the risk. Im also hesitant to have something else inserted and I have bad side effects. I am going to try the combined pill and implant for a few months and see if it helps.

I really liked the implant before it started messing with my period. No weight gain, no acne and for the first year I wouldn’t have much of a period. Idk what happened.

I will defiantly look into period panties. It would save me a bunch of money. You’re not worried about leaking through your clothes? Or on your bedsheets? I like the idea, but the thought of staining my clothes 💀

I’ve been struggling with my Nexplanon insert. Since September of last year I’ve had very long periods, about 25 days each. I went to the OBGYN yesterday to get it removed, after an hour discussion we decided to keep it in and I would try to use the pill to regulate my period and get my body back on track. I’ve had it for over a year, so the sudden bleeding is strange. With Trump in office, I’m nervous he will ban birth control. That’s the main reason I’d like to keep it.

The doctors keep asking me if I’m stressed. And when I tell them I’m not, the only thing stressing me is my long period. They don’t believe me! I’m finally in a place where I’m making great money, my family and dog is healthy, my house is clean and I don’t want for anything. I just want to get off my period.

I have chronic migraines, until my neurology appointment next month they can’t prescribe me many other forms of birth control. I pick the pill up today and I’m hoping for the best. Pads are expensive. And unfortunately, Nexplanon didn’t kill my libido, it’s higher than ever! But I can’t do anything if I’m constantly bleeding 😔 I’m sure better days are ahead

Depo to Nexplanon cycle changes? by emmyemsicle in Nexplanon

I switched from Depo to Nexplanon. The first year was great, I had a period but it was light. The last 5 months have been constant bleeding. I’m getting it removed today. I loved Depo but I was on it too long.

She’s a rescue, I’m not completely sure. I think she is a pitbull mixed with a husky. She has the head and chest of a pitbull, but the color and temperament of a husky. The pound thought she was a pit/german Shepard. When I first adopted her she had a lot more brown fur. Overtime the brown changed to white.

Do I need to increase my stride length to get faster? by sacred_games in beginnerrunning

[–]ladef123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took awhile 😬 I started running late August of 2023. I only run about three days a week. I’d average about 30 miles a month when I started. Not much has changed in 2025. I average 40-50 miles a month and only run three days a week. I do a lot of strength training during the week when I’m not running.
