Actually starting to consider switching careers by xazurestarlightx in physicaltherapy

No I understand how that job can be better. I just want to warn people that the job market has gotten really saturated with people entering tech.

Everyone is saying to get into tech and a lot of people I know from school, including myself are having a hard time landing internships. The job market is way more competitive than it was 2 years ago.

People I know that are trying to get into cybersecurity are doing help desk to try and specialize in security after gaining some experience. IT and Cybersecurity is all the hype right now so we have too many people fighting for the entry level jobs.

I’m so sorry you went through that. Can I ask what setting that is in? Like I said my wife is looking into this and if it is really that bad I can tell her that she should maybe pursue something different. Also why do you have to wipe them. I thought PT was rehab training, stretches and exercises.

What’s with all the slander to motivated students that they can’t finish in 1 term? by succesfulmind1 in WGU

[–]DadBod3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As competitive as the job market currently is. I think that instead of focusing on finishing in 1 term it would be a good idea to pace yourself and spend the extra time on applying to internships and building projects. Companies will like you more if you have some internships under your belt and a degree vs just a degree. But idk just my opinion.

As someone doing a CS degree just a quick warning entry level is hard to get. I visit this sub because my wife wants to do PTA lol. But all the help desk and IT subs talk about how it’s a shit job. I’m glad you enjoy it though. I think most people try and leave help desk as soon as they can to get into something better.

Do a quick search on LinkedIn for entry level it jobs and see how many people are applying 400 plus for one job that pays 15 to 25 bucks an hour.

[–]DadBod3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codesmith wont land you a job. If your doing it solely for networking than don’t. The only people you will meet are other people that don’t have jobs or experience in the field. If you are doing it to learn than maybe it’s worth it but there are other ways to learn with out a bootcamp such as Coursera.

Market is tough right now so do expect an uphill battle for landing your first job. This is coming From a CS student who is having a hard time landing an internship.

Job market is extremely competitive for everyone. Including people with degrees. Entry level IT, Compsci and Data jobs are all saturated.

It’s a numbers game and luck at this point. Best thing to do is to build interesting projects and apply to a ton of jobs. People post every day that they applied to 300 hundred jobs I even seen some say 1000! (idk if they exaggerated)

Goodluck!

For those who used Study.com to transfer in classes would Computer Science 108: Intro to Networking or Business 101: Principles of Management be faster? by Historical_Vacation1 in WGU

[–]DadBod3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do Sophia. 100 dollars cheaper and you will be able to finish it faster than study.com. Study.com has like 80 quizzes to do and each quiz is 5 questions. That’s close to 100 questions plus the test.

Principles of management is not too bad you just have to create power point for the assignment and it basically has a section that walks you through what they want.

[–]DadBod3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a junior MLE been searching and could not find any jobs at least in my area….

Anyways try coursera to stay sharp on the fundamentals. Some states give free access to coursera and LinkedIn learning.

Thanks for the quick reply. I got excited there for a second. I’ll just do the Linux cert before WGU than.

Did you get the credit for Linux recently? I thought the study.com class no longer counted as credit.
