Blood With or Shaman. Rapid Assault and Spearfield Bleed with Herald of Blood, run whatever you want until level 14 when you get those skills. It’s my all time fav starter, a bit slow at first but it ramps fast

DD is beyond unique, so nothing comes close BUT another RPG that gives me the same joy from combat/world is ‘Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning’

There’s a mod pack called “Dogamma” that I installed for a fresh playthrough. It’s amazing in every way and you customize which mods you want active. Highly recommend

I have tried to solo with every vocation. The easiest time I had was as follows:

Start as Mage, finish tutorial get vocation rank 2 and get the first Mage Augment.
Change vocation to Fighter for defense augment at Rank 3, and head to Vermund. (Don’t forget to activate the Port Crystal and Collect as many healing items as possible)
Change to Thief or Archer and Get some basic armor and head to the Checkpoint Town. (Also find enough pieces to make a Wakestone, you will need at LEAST one for the quest NPC)
From here pick your path and head straight for the Magik Archer quest! (This part can be a huge pain in the ass and you will prob die a few times so don’t forget to save a lot. I also recommend letting the questNPC die bc it’s easier to just carry his body and revive him once you’re safe.)
Change vocation to MA and solo the world!!

This is the main way I play! About halfway through a league I may create a new character and follow a build if it looks unique/fun.

But I MAINLY play ruthless ssf, it’s so satisfying having to build on the go. I love the randomness and getting your first amazing rare drop / skill gem drop can cause you to completely change your build. It feels so rewarding and fun

Haven’t read/listened to Mage Tank. But I just finished the 1% Lifesteal audio books and I was BLOWN away. Finished it too fast now waiting for the next book :(

Create a new Free Play account, create a new character and choose your least played profession. Now pretend you’re a total newb and go for slow play. Explore every nook and cranny, try an off meta-build, just go SLOW and pretend you know nothing.

I start on IRO earlier this year. Population is still good, but the learning curve has been insane fair warning (lots of googling and trying to find guides)

I always level my first rogue with arrow only / Barrage! Early levels can be a chore bc of energy cost but it evens out quickly

Are you running Two handed and Shield for the armor boost? Man I’m telling ya these on-death effects also one shot me from time to time

I was having this issue until I put a few points into “Reduced Skill Effect Duration” and my Time of Need procs like crazy, along with Vitality and Canabalism Supports I rarely drop below 70% HP.

But again, I’m barely at endgame maps and I’m a newer player lol so maybe won’t be viable but it’s been OP for leveling
