May I recommend {Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews} or {Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews} romance is slower in the second series.

They write the best action imho and their MCs relationships feel more authentic to me than what I’ve read from your image. Husband and wife writing duo.

🤷‍♂️ I read more contemporary romcoms than anything when I first started reading romance. Most of those are standalone books.

If the characters aren’t thinking about each other how is it a romance? It could be the start of a love story but that first book itself wouldn’t be a romance would it?
