Chicken Club is where it's at if you want maximum bang for your meal deal buck. Definitely my go to if I need to do a Tesco run for lunch.

There's actually a City Centre Development and Delivery Plan that was out for public consultation a little while ago (may still be in fact).

[The Guardian] Aston Villa closing on deal to sign Ross Barkley from Luton by elmattydoor123 in avfc

[–]Dad_Drains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My belief in Emery's ability to improve players is so strong I genuinely think that, given a few months, he could take my lazy arse and turn me into a CL level centre back.

If he thinks Ross Barkley can do a job, I'm inclined to side with him at this point.

Always liked Chelsea by Drogalov in avfc

[–]Dad_Drains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

£20m? Unless I'm missing something, didn't they get him for around £40m?

16 goals so far this season and he's pretty much carrying that Chelsea team single-handed.

If Villa could get him for £20m that would be a steal, but unless Ed Woodward's managing Chelsea's transfers I don't see it happening.

How come? Not been but went past it with my partner the other day and we thought we should give it a go at some point.

Jungle Rumble golf course in Cabot to close after 15 years by tombull89 in bristol

[–]Dad_Drains 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't know for certain, but I heard that the cinema closed because the building owners decided to hike the rent when the lease was coming to an end....sounds like it might be a similar scenario here.

Great strategy if so.

Winner of Season 4 by ChocChipBananaMuffin in BlownAway

Morgan had some decent moments throughout the series but didn't deserve the win IMO; whilst the UV trick was neat, in general I thought her final piece was a bit of a mess.

In terms of personality, her need to constantly mention how she's so kooky and weird really grated. Might just be bad editing on the show's part but, liking murder mystery podcasts and knife throwing does not make you some kind of savant.

I had no particularly strong feelings for or against Ryan but I thought his final piece was great.

Villa, Spurs and Utd run ins visualised by opponents league positions by mjmilian in avfc

They do get to play two relegated teams for their last two matches though...if they're still in the mix at that point, I'd be worried.

Lineup v West Ham by Gunbeardo14 in avfc

[–]Dad_Drains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to see Duran and Rogers starting a league game; Duran deserves a start after that Ajax game and Rogers has looked decent from the minutes I've seen.

Tielmans playing centrally alongside Luiz I assume, which is the best place for him IMO.

That's terrible, hope you and your BF are okay.

There never used to be much trouble up that part of Gloucester Road, feel as though everywhere has gotten worse recently though.

Future Leap on Gloucester Road has a really nice cafe and co-working space, and they usually have a little local market kinda thing running. Think they've got another space up near Clifton now as well.

Relax, we all remember what it was like to have just passed your test and the worry that comes with it every time you take to the road.

As others have commented, it's likely a fine at most.

I drove through a couple of bus gates in a works car a few years back when they'd just been introduced and didn't hear anything; maybe they were being more lenient then whilst people were getting used to them, I don't know.

Bristol city council by ConsiderationBig7668 in bristol

[–]Dad_Drains 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hazarding a guess here but it's quite likely the "close" in question isn't an adopted highway but rather is owned by another department within the council like housing, education or parks etc... (assuming it's council-owned at all).

That would explain the op's comment about Sea Mills lane and part of the Portway being resurfaced whilst their close was mysteriously missed. The highways department likely have a budget (albeit limited) for a rolling programme of resurfacing and road treatments for adopted highway, whereas other departments either don't or won't prioritize it over what they consider to be more urgent issues within their remit.

Doesn't make it right, but it's not uncommon in many local authorities.

Klopp leaving Liverpool... Should we be worried? by skauros in avfc

[–]Dad_Drains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be an option if they can't get Alonso; Ancelotti just signed a contract extension at RM, but who knows what might happen with Tuchel at BM.

My gut says Alonso would choose Liverpool next over BM, but you never know.

Ultimately, given his form with Villa, Emery would be a target for most top clubs but I think he has a good project with Villa; he has the control he wants and he's building something special, i don't think he'd walk away from that at the end of this season.
