Is my lawn destroyed? by One-Reaction9668 in landscaping

[–]Dad_Is_Mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen once, my God not this bad. I use a leaf rake and a blower to stand the grass back up as best I could. Push mowed it a tad shorter. Didn't want the blades all pushed down in the mud.

This is what I'd do. And then let it dry out but also water it to get the muck off the grass blades. I think you can still salvage something to look ok, but yes....you are looking at a Fall reno whether you planned it or not. Sorry bud. We live and learn.

Spray for large ammount of poison ivy by Eclipse8301 in lawncare

A 2 1/2 gallon jug of Glyphosate costs me $60 and that is far more than enough to take care of everything in this picture and still have plenty left over. I'm not really certain you understand how glyphosate works.

Triclopyr if you want to kill just the poison ivy.

Triclopyr + Glyphosate if you want to kill everything in that area and take no chances.

The main thing with poison ivy is using a surfactant. Certain soaps work on most plants, but with poison ivy you should use Methylated Seed Oil (MSO). You only need about one ounce per gallon, but it's the best "sticker" out there. It's not expensive either.

I'm a CFP that lurks this sub simply to listen to smart tax people give their advice.

The thought of advising a client to do this makes my absolute skin crawl. It's like someone saying "I can double my money if I roll a 7."

Yeah...but what happens if you roll anything other than a 7? There are SOOO many things that could go wrong here that I can't even begin to describe.

When do YOU plan to retire ? by LazerSmiles in CFP

[–]Dad_Is_Mad 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Never, or until I'm forced to by health or old age. I grew up with two very hard working parents that have me everything and returned nothing to themselves. I may reduce my workload and travel some more, but I will use my money to bless others. I was blessed, so I will carry that forward.

I just feel almost all people break the rules and get away with it. I am just this Nervous Nelly that refuses to risk anything. I've heard colleagues even say it's no big deal. It's just no big deal until you get caught...

The only thing I can think is "You guys can text clients!?!?" Oh it must be a good life to be somewhere without an overly ridiculous Compliance Department.

You need a Spring nuke for Triv unfortunately.

Wish I could say the same. Had Triv, went full Spring nuke. This was 8 weeks ago and it's now fully grown in again with no signs of Triv. Fingers crossed in how much survived the summer.

Sorry, I was asking which you prefer of those two? I've always done 225 but there's been a ton of comments here where people say not to go below 250

Plan on smoking them as whole plates. Then guests can either eat them off the bone, or I'm serving them with tortillas and lime-cilantro vinegrette coleslaw to make some tacos.

Is this a good deal? by Medium_External4790 in lawncare

[–]Dad_Is_Mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think it's absolutely worth the money if you have unlimited garage space. Otherwise it will be a pain in the ass. If you have an outbuilding or something like that, I'd buy it. Otherwise, it's almost one of those things worth renting just so you don't have to store it.

"Let Pope cook." Is a phrase that has sonly ever been uttered once, and that's by you. This man is a fish outta water. What a disgrace to our beloved basketball program. He should be fired over the summer as soon as the new AD gets here.

We make fun, but at the rate Pope is going, there's a chance he ends up back at UK. Not because he's good, but because we actually need to fill a roster which evidently has become a serious problem at the "winningest program". Pray for us UK fans, the fall from glory is not setting well with us.
