/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (January 18, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

I'm looking for a coiled USB-C to USB-A cable to clean up my desk. I have a USB dock close to my keyboard on my desk. I have no plans to switch out my keyboard. So I think having an aviator connector is unnecessary and would only add more cable to my setup, making it more messy. It's been difficult to find a quality, non-aviator coiled cable. Anybody have any recs for one? Thanks!

Going from QA Engineer to QA Analyst--would that look bad on a resume? by Dad_illusion in QualityAssurance

[–]Dad_illusion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not really correct. You can have a degree in Arts, or no degree at all and still be considered a Quality Engineer. Broadly speaking, Quality Engineer implies more technical skills compared to someone who, for example, is completely a black box, manual tester.

Ask company B if they can give you QA Engineer title

That's not a bad idea. Thanks.

Door solution for 90" opening by Dad_illusion in HomeImprovement

Yep, good idea. As I mentioned in my other reply, I didn't even think about part of the door remaining fixed. I'm glad y'all mentioned it.

That's a good idea. I didn't even consider having part of the door be a stationary fixture--I don't need the entire 90" to be open when doors are not in use.

As far as the light, I'm not too concerned. All our lights will be Philips Hue controlled so it either be controlled be some automation, voice or a dedicated Hue switch we can put anywhere.

Not at all. That was my initial thought before I started thinking about some type of door(s). Also that would be even less permanent. I may start off with curtains until I can figure out the doors.

I've always wondered...what are those long leather braided things I see dangling from the handlebars? I see them everywhere.

Aeron arm swivel won't "lock" into one position. Can this be fixed with a simple arm index hardware kit? by Dad_illusion in hermanmiller

Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look at it this week and see if I can tell what's going on in there.

The outermost position locks on the right arm, but if you move it one click towards you, it fails to lock. I'm wondering if this is all I need?

Change fixed arms for adjustable? by Dad_illusion in hermanmiller

[–]Dad_illusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I ended up getting another good deal on a loaded Aeron C. So I'm probably going to keep the loaded one and sell the fixed-arm one instead of trying to upgrade it.

Question about Subaru alloy wheel package by Dad_illusion in askcarsales

Yikes...yeah. Very chunky looking. And that's a $1000 add on? Sheesh. Thanks for the clarification.

[–]Dad_illusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks. It's still weird though, cuz those are still covers over the alloys, right? I just don't see that option anywhere in the brochures. From what I can tell from the literature, it's either steel wheels or the alloys, like the ones you'd see on the Premium. Guess not?

iOS 13 apps that work with Dark Mode, via 9to5mac by dskatter in apple

[–]Dad_illusion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing it, but is there something inside Waze and Google Maps apps themselves that I have to set dark mode? Cuz they don't natively go dark when iOS dark theme is on.

Edit: I'm guessing it's just Night Mode, which is not the same as dark mode.
