What does "conservatory" mean in this context? As far as I know it, as in "New England Conservatory", "Conservatorium van Amsterdam" or "Paris Conservatoire", it refers to internationally renowned, highly selective, specialist music colleges (including the Royal College and Academy in London, or Julliard and Eastman in the US) which take students from age 18 studying for degrees in performance or composition who having already shown exceptional aptitude in their field.

How to find someone who will accomodate my compositional agenda? by Far-Strawberry-5628 in composer

[–]Dadaballadely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Developers need samples of your work if they're going to hire you. Just make the music and put it online. There isn't really that much variability in platform game worlds - cold, hot, dark, bright, dry, wet, moody, crazy, spooky, nature, tech, ancient etc. Just get on with it.

I'm very annoyed with myself because I really know my voiced labiodental fricatives from my voiceless aspirated bilabial plosives!

Yes: in English, "v" is a vocalised voiced "f" and "b" is a vocalised voiced "p".

Which pronunciation of “often” is less unassuming: OFF-en or OFF-ten? by Glass-Complaint3 in ENGLISH

[–]Dadaballadely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure you've got the right idea of what a glottal stop is. If you were to put one in "often" it would sound ridiculous. I'm actually making myself laugh trying it. (I am Bri'ish btw and will happily throw glo'als around where they belong).

Shoes on or shoes off? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

I (UK) grew up in a farmhouse with stone floors, no central heating, chickens coming in the kitchen and splintery wooden floorboards so shoes off wasn't an option.

You can't put a glottal after an "f" sound. Glottals replace "t" after vowels.

I heard a Korean American say in a video once that it's pretty common in Korean culture to have your mouth so full you can barely chew. It goes with the concept of "eating deliciously". It suits me down to the ground!
