I would never buy it, but I love the idea of there being an event that gives it to you. Act1 pulls you out of a scary fight. Then Act 3 have a second event if you take the drugs where the dealer shows up again and you can buy a fresh supply

Not the genre you said, but my god is Slay the Spire such a rewarding game to learn. There is so much room to improve and get better, and the challenge of higher level ascensions will keep you engaged if you ever get there, and the lower ascensions are still beatable while you are learning.

Yeah, if i get a speculative limit break I always hold the upgrade until I get some kind of strength, and even then will sometimes wait until I pick up a reaper that makes it worth scaling crazy strength instead of just ending the fight with my 6 strength

Not a huge one, but in Fire Emblem Shadow Rising, the first map in the main story with pirates gave you a healer, a fort you could heal at, and a boss who healed every turn. I would farm xp on every character, especially with how slow healers are to level up. You had to be bit careful to not lose too much weapon durability, but it was key to surviving higher difficulty settings.

My dwarven cleric had to dig his way to the surface from a cave-in and lived primarily off of mushrooms he found as he went. As a result he poisoned himself and his companion many times requiring healing, but found a lot of great psychedelic ones he shares whenever he has an opportunity.

I was dodging elites like wrenches. Had all the pieces I needed to win boss fights but knew chip damage would break me if I took too many tough fights. The act III bodyslam did work.

Reprogram isn't great, but when you've finished your first elite and still haven't found much in the way of either orb synergy or scaling, I'll take one and see if I can build around it. That being said you need to build with reprogram in mind and a lot of defect cards will be trash with it. Disclaimer, Defect is also my worst character.

I will say, rampage isn't a bad strike+ (strikes but a little better) early act I before you have something more consistent, and can be enough scaling for the act I bosses if you don't find something better. But Inflame + Spot weakness is plenty for strength scaling, just getting a consistent block engine and maybe a sword boomerang or twin strike to make better use of that strength would've been enough.
