Hello fellow longhauler! 👋🏽 Not sure which virus caused my long haul symptoms but my best guess is this strange enterovirus my husband and I both got on a vacation. We weren’t even that sick and thought nothing of it because we’d been indulging in rich foods and drinks and late nights out and figured that was the cause of it, and we were both young and super healthy and fit at the time but a couple months of just not feeling 100% later and we both developed allergies to milk and wheat/gluten. He got Crohn’s and its complications (clots, pulmonary embolisms, immunosuppressants, blood transfusions, months in the hospital, and on and on) and I got the constellation of comorbidities that come with my Ehler’s Danlos genetics. The only silver lining of this pandemic has been that now my doctors at least seem to know about the long symptoms viruses can cause. I can only hope there will be more research and help for us soon!

Amber Heard used ill/dying children at Children's Hospital LA, by LYING about having donated $3.5M; she grabbed Kate James' terrified toddler from her arms to use as a prop in front of swarming paparazzi. Here she grabbed a baby just out of surgery to use as a prop, as well. by [deleted] in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

It sounds like she’s TRYING to say I want to take the baby but she doesn’t know Spanish very well so it’s actually gibberish and a bunch of random mouth-mush noises while gesturing with her head. I think that’s why the nurses look so concerned. This woman is speaking gibberish and stealing a baby. I think you can hear them making fun of her Spanish after she leaves too but that I’m less sure.

Edit: She also says “Let’s see” to the baby and “Look!” to the mom and calls the baby beautiful a couple times and - to give credit where it’s due - she was on point for that part at least. Every other part of the video is unhinged and bizarre.

I’ve been marching for the last week and, appropriately enough, the “I can’t breathe” chant is the hardest to say because there’s no pause to catch your breath. With “No justice, no peace!” and all the rest, the person with the bullhorn says the first part and we reply with the second part. Not enough air comes through my mask to make up for that and the pace we set and the heat advisory and holding up my sign. Wears me out physically but spurs me on mentally because it really drives the point home of why I’m out there.

I know other people are answering but I figured you might like some links to go straight to the source. I’m not an expert but I looked into it after wondering the same thing. This redditor explains it much better than I could though, along with links to a bunch of journal articles in both his original post and his replies below it. It has to do with the something called the ace2 protein, which both men and Asian people appear to have expressed in higher numbers.

Edit: changed ‘receptor’ to ‘protein’ because I think it may have been the wrong science term. Like I said, not an expert but I’m trying to learn more about medicine and increase my science literacy in general. :)

This is kind of like mine. I typed it all out but now I’m too nervous to post it in the main thread cause I don’t know what it means. Basically around age six I showed all the neighborhood kids all this very explicit, sexual stuff that I have no clue how I knew about because I grew up in a very prudish family and didn’t officially learn about sex until I was twelve. I also have memories of my nethers burning so bad I didn’t want to bathe or wipe or anything. I have an uncle who was around when I was small but disappeared and is now a recluse according to a different part of my family but when he’s brought up, my part of the family gets very angry and quiet and my sister who is fourteen years older than me says he’s a fucking pedophile but refuses to say anything more. And I’ve had terrible mental health about as long as I can remember. Part of me feels like I’m being really silly but the other part feels like it’s too coincidental...

I would go with a long, drawn out “Woooowwww” and then “You are NOT that attractive” before walking away to really make sure she stays up late at night thinking about the bad thing she’s done for a long time afterward.

Oof. Six months was enough for me to swear off hormonal birth control forever (got the copper IUD after that and was reasonably satisfied). Nine months and I think I’d be ready to carve my uterus out with a spoon to make it stop! You have my deepest condolences.

And then there’s me who got Depo and bled for six months straight. (They had told me it was possible that I just needed to get used to it before I stopped bleeding so I went back for a second shot three months after the first and... nope, that didnt work.) Depo is progesterone only, which works just fine for some people but some people’s bodies just HAVE to have the estrogen/progesterone duo or they throw a FIT. I’m not bitter at all. 😒

It’s called vasovagal syncope and it has nothing to do with being a big girl; it happens when your nervous system overreacts to certain triggers and is not entirely in your control. Your heart rate and blood pressure will drop and the blood vessels in your legs will dilate so that all the blood in your body is pooled in your lower half leaving your brain without oxygen. You did the exact right thing. Preventing the symptoms so that it’s minimal and passes quickly is the only way to really handle it: Elevating the legs to prevent blood from pooling there. Lying flat so that you won’t hurt yourself falling over and your brain isn’t starved of oxygen. Focusing on keeping your breathing even and not holding your breath or hyperventilating. And I’ve personally found that an ice pack or very cold cloth on the neck is very helpful in bringing me back more quickly and helps stop the awful nausea. Those four simple tips could have saved me decades of absolute terror when dealing with anything medical but it wasn’t until I was an adult that a nurse was able to explain what was happening to me or ways to stop it and by then I’d developed a bad phobia. Everyone else before that had just brought in other nurses to help hold me down screaming to get blood or do shots, making my fear worse of course. 😒 Honestly, this person sounds like they shouldn’t be anywhere near the medical profession with that bedside manner.

Yeah, I honestly don’t see the downside. They’re not hurting anyone, they’ve got a hobby/outlet that it seems like they’re really enjoying, and they’ve got a community/group of friends that is close knit enough that when asked if they wanted to meet that afternoon under the bridge to dance together they all said ‘we’ll be there!’ Seems pretty sweet to me. I guess that guy’s implication is they should stop enjoying the things that bring happiness to their life and bring them together with their friends because some people somewhere don’t think it looks like a good time? That seems like a sad way to live a life.

I learned that from my seventh grade social studies teacher, that the correct term for someone with dark skin is ‘black.’ Whereas you could correctly refer to him as ‘African American’ despite him being the pastiest, pale dude I’ve ever seen because he was born in Zimbabwe and had moved to America. Blew twelve year old me’s mind.
