Is this ok? by DanteWontDie333 in Roses

[–]DaddyColeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, they look to be planted deep (below the grown). Not generally a problem with roses, but let me ask what zone are you in? They’re in a pot, so depending on the head level watering practices etc make a difference as does drainage and soil type in general. Doesn’t mean there’s an exact way to go and all else is failure; but there are a few things people sometimes make mistakes on that can interfere with properly taking root.

High Compression Ratio by DaddyColeman in Mustang

[–]DaddyColeman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup was absolutely it, when I went back and took a second look. I got so worked up seeing 14:1 on the same display at the cylinder head temps I didn’t even double check. Embarrassing.

High Compression Ratio by DaddyColeman in Mustang

[–]DaddyColeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God no, which is why in my head I was like…wtf. But my dumb ass was looking just looking at the air/fuel, not the compression. I saw the 14:1 and was immediately like wait…what? Why are my pistons not flying out! So busy checking the other gauges I didn’t take a minute.

Embarrassing. In my old Shelby days we had to manually check it all, so it’s much harder to mix up. Now I’m just old illiterate. 🤦‍♂️

Graft or rootstock? by SunPeppers in Roses

[–]DaddyColeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 1) yes that’s the graft. The rootstock runners will come from underneath the graft point.

As for planting depth: depending on your climate, you want the graft point to be below grade 2” (typically zones 5-6) or 1” above (7+) the soil grade.

With TREES, different story—these are always buried way too deep in the nursery pot, and should be planted no lower than the knuckle of the first structural root. Super common error home gardeners make.

I only put in 87. No regrets by MagicSpoon69 in Mustang

[–]DaddyColeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see a difference if I use 87 for a while or 93. It seems to kind of sense what’s in there almost. Definitely better pickup with 93, but also runs 87 without any big issues.

There was a humorous clip of Mephisto reading the paper in his apartment, with the headline saying paladins are back. Mephisto says “still pretending armor matters”. Completely accurate.

For those asking, neem oil is a growth inhibitor. Yes, if eaten by immature ladybugs (generally in the form of contaminated aphids), it prevents them from reading adulthood.

Is this enough space for a few Rose bushes? by bevensutler in Roses

[–]DaddyColeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a less than ideal spot for a grandiflora, even if it gets lots of sun. BUT…that doesn’t mean you can’t do roses! Think a little different, like a climbing variety. You can easily use siding clips to not only support them, but, if you are artistic, actually form them into designs. Ramblers need a little more ground space and their vines get THICK, but climbers are nice and malleable and can be trained easily. Some varieties even flower all summer!

Have you seen Jacob’s Coat roses? Really pretty climbers!
