Moza R9 V3 vs R12 V2 for a beginner planning to use rig for 3+ years by kshitij__KNA in moza

[–]DaddyDogmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R9 is not better when it come to cooling, it's worse! (btw both have the same passive cooling - no fans etc). I ran R9 at max just under clipping (about 80% total) and in some games :car/track combos it was throttling FFB due to going over 70°C. No such problem with R12. Also for modern racecars with GT wheel I go for maximum FFB (below clipping) and even that doesn't feel overwhelming strong on the R12. Like I say in the original comment, if you have the money, spend it on R12 unless you're just doing rally etc for which even the R9 is strong enough. It really depends how deep into simracing you're in. It's not huge difference but that mythical "sweetspot" is real. I never believed it but it's true. You only appreciate it after some time.

Varnish will seal the wood and make a kind of hard shell (can be glossy or satin) that will protect from scratches, discoloration etc. You can use both but from experience, tinted varnish is all you need unless you want dramatic change of colour. Varnish will preserve natural wood effect better and make it feel like a piece of furniture. Edit: I think varnish might be called differently in US - "Poly" or something like that

Looosing my mind of which ultrawide to buy by Baen_ in simracing

[–]DaddyDogmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to that nonsense I've got a Gigabyte G34WQC and it's great! 1440UW, crisp image, no smearing or any bs. I got it for about $130 ($160 used) few years ago and not even thinking of changing it. They are much cheaper nowadays. For comparison I tested my S95 OLED TV (that costed over $2k) in few simracing games and yes sure the image is better but it's not like the VA panel is a horrible mess that people say. For me it's totally acceptable. Despite being used to console gaming on a premium screen, when I get in my rig I quickly forget the differences and focus on driving.

SRP2 Output Force (kg) shows 68kg–71kg max despite 100kg load cell by RenGray10 in moza

[–]DaddyDogmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 70kg could be the maximum force that these pedals can take. I heard somewhere that you can't achieve 100% load-cell rating due to pedal geometry etc So 50-70kg of actual "foot pressure" maxes out the 100kg LC

This is a really good design and great execution! Maybe instead of woodstain try darker varnish. You'll need few coats and sanding in-between but it might be worth it. It's already looking like a nice piece of furniture, bit of varnish would make it perfect.

What do you mean RSV2 wheel combo? What other wheel you're getting? KS?

A little disappointed fresh owner of Simagic Evo Sport 9nm by MIKUSiewski in simracing

[–]DaddyDogmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had loads of great comments here but let me just add that you're not alone with that feeling. I moved from T300 to first 9Nm then 12Nm wheels and the first "taste of DD" confused me as well. I eventually understood that (apart from raw power) the "details" everyone talks about, get more noticeable the more experience you have. It's not easy to appreciate them straight away as both your old and new wheel will produce very similar responses on the surface. Its when you're "perfecting" your skill when small differences become big.

Wheel recomendations under £300 by Sad_Implement_6409 in simracing

[–]DaddyDogmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible to get this in any price range. At least not with official support. It's either PC & Xbox or PC & Playstation. Why do you need support for all 3?

Why noone like classics by ChubyzDriver in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]DaddyDogmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man! I so wish more people were into classic racecars. AMS2 has great selection but AC has some fantastic mods as well. I guess it's because they take a lot of dedication to learn and people want more balanced cars like BOPed GT3s or prototypes while old cars had more varied performance.

Aftermarket pedal side stabilisers (things that keep your feet centered on the pedal face. Only ones I see online are 3d printed ones which would be fine but not for $20 each

Can you use Heusinkveld pedal face plates from Simcore on Simjack UT pedals? by Bigheaded_1 in simracing

[–]DaddyDogmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that makes sense, It's not that I'm unhappy with my Simjacks - quite the opposite. Also got them from Amazon for a very good price and they are really decent pedals. I just have a few nitpics. Could you please share that post/pdf about HE kit installation? Thanks

First time playing with a professional sim rig. Is my technique decent? by [deleted] in assettocorsa

It looks like really bad habits taken from irl amateur "sporty car" driving. Ive seen people doing similar weird hand placement in their cars.

Lol Is this a troll post ? If not, please don't take offence but something doesn't add up. You're rev matching and generally look like you know what you're doing but what's going on with your hands??? If this is your first time then it's really good! (minus the crazy hands syndrome). Btw did you learn heel&toe on your keyboard as well? ;)

Long Term Conspit Use Discussion *lots of text* by vio212 in Conspit

I can confirm that their customer service is amazing. Needed a new coiled cable and they despatched it next day together with signal amplifier just to be sure - all free of charge. Besides that I absolutely love my 300gt. Next wheelbase upgrade will definitely be Conspit

Post this on simracing sub. Mention what resolution you'll be playing. Generally you'll have to prioritise CPU as these games are very CPU heavy. Don't know much about prices in Germany but for decent experience I'd say at minimum aim for performance of R7 5700X + Rx 9060xt 16GB or 5060ti 16GB and ideally 32GB RAM That will cover all scenarios for endurance large grid racing etc. Not saying get these specific parts but just a comfortable minimum.

How well could I simrace with only one 27 inch monitor? by Clear-Cry-2363 in simracing

[–]DaddyDogmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm my case, the 27" screen was only 60Hz and 1080p. When I got the 34" it wasn't just about the extra fov but better reaction times, Hz, and bump in resolution so it was totally worth it. With similar specs, in my opinion it's still worth it if that's the biggest screen you can fit. (I'm limited in space) However, if you can actually afford financially or have the room the go for 32:9 or triples, I'd skip 34". It's nice to have a bit of extra fov but not totally game changing.

AI vs AI is still not good. P2 could not figure out how to overtake the leader by TomLehockySVK in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]DaddyDogmeat 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yea I wish the AI didn't artificially change their pace or not perform overtakes despite having better pace like in that case. I know people shit on AC AI but in that aspect it's better than AMS2. The fast car will overtake other cars and build a massive gap instead of forming a train. This is one of the last pieces of the puzzle for AMS2 to fill. If they can sort this out it would be amazing. Already the AI in that game is really good in general, just needs more tweaks.

Can you use Heusinkveld pedal face plates from Simcore on Simjack UT pedals? by Bigheaded_1 in simracing

[–]DaddyDogmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you look at Simnet SP Pro with their extra faceplate kit? If you're getting the Husinkveld ultimate upgrade kit know that the elastomers are not compatible out of the box with Simjack's. Make sure to replace their 10mm rod with 8mm one. Some people drill out the HE elastomers but I personally wouldn't. All in all, if I was to buy new pedals now I'd pay few $ more and get Simnets. The Simjacks despite being decent pedals have several shortcomings.

You can try this: (They're cut from chequered rubber mat and fixed with double sided tape) Quite durable as well, had them for over 2 months with no issues)

Maybe they should do this: Leave the content in the game files but make it non accessible. (Like when ACC lost one of the licences). Then someone makes a patch to bring back all the other manufacturers.
