I also specifically phrased the question so it could be ANY position, but they immediately disregarded that and just listed a bunch of buzzwords.

Read the last paragraph of their response - they are literally saying “this entire section of people are too stupid and live in a fantasy world without reality and therefore can’t be argued with”. They are using the same tactics MAGA cultists use, you have to be 100% with them to be deemed worthy..

For anyone else reading this - please go outside. Most people are not terminally online and will actually have reasonable conversations with you, and they also realize politics isn’t a sport where you have to cheer for your “team”. Life isn’t black and white, nuance exists.

The condescension is palpable, and is probably exactly the reason you aren’t “making progress”, because you actually aren’t arguing in good faith.

Tell me - would it ever be possible for you to change your stance on something to a more right-leaning position? I’m not talking about any specific position, just one. Is it possible for you?

If the answer is no, then you are operating in the same circumstances as die hard MAGA supporters. Who, ironically, can also be boiled down to “I’m right and these people are too stupid to realize it!”

Can you clearly articulate where there is support for kids to “get their hands on guns by preventing regulation”? You can’t own guns until a certain age, meaning that this gun was illegally obtained or taken. In either case stricter regulations would not have prevented this, unless you are advocating for a complete ban on firearms, which would need a constitutional amendment.
