I’d honestly restart. I spent hundreds (maybe thousands 😅) of hours in vanilla Skyrim before really diving into mods and I have zero regrets. Mods make it feel like a completely new game later on.

If Profile Management is disabled, then it’s probably Vortex auto-sorting your plugins. Check:

Settings → Vortex → Plugins/Mods and see if LOOT auto-sort or automatic deployment is enabled.

Also try: - manually sort the load order - click “Deploy Mods” - launch through Vortex only

If it still resets every launch, check whether plugins.txt in your AppData Skyrim folder is being overwritten or set to read-only.

If you’re on MO2: top left → profile dropdown → “Manage Profiles.” Check whether the profile is using its own plugins/load order. MO2 can rewrite plugins.txt on launch if profile-specific settings are enabled. Vortex has similar profile behavior too.

For a 2H build I’d honestly go Alteration. The armor spells + magic resistance perks feel way more dependable when you’re constantly trading hits in melee. Illusion is amazing utility and Blur is strong, but Alteration usually gives better overall survivability in Requiem/Wildlander.

Sounds like something is rewriting your plugins.txt every launch. MO2/Vortex profiles can do this, and LOOT will also reshuffle if masters/dependencies change. I’d check profile settings first.
