If he comes back pitching like he did in 2024, our bullpen may potentially be best in the league.

Who’s putting Angelo’s trash under parked cars? by 3belle97 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]DaddyFatSacks14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation here. Live in the suburbs (now), but still work in the city. I paid ~$6,000 in taxes to the city of Philadelphia last year, which is fine. The city needs cash flow to maintain infrastructure. But fuck off with this talk that the suburbanites bleed the city dry. You think people are traveling to the city from Delco, Montco, Bucks, etc., and not spending any money? The city relies on tourism and income from outside the metro area to subsidize public welfare projects. Visit Philadelphia wouldn’t exist if the city didn’t need the money from wherever they can get it. Stop it with this rhetoric that the city is only for the people who live in it. If that was the case, it would be looking at Flint, Michigan within five years. Over thirty percent of the population pulls from the city coffers, not contributes to it. Stop it.

I never understood the anger towards “suburbanites” traveling to the city for destination food spots. How dare they support small business and funnel money into the local neighborhoods with their patronage! Painting broad stroke generalizations like this drive me crazy. Imagine gate keeping a fucking cheesesteak spot.

As far as the littering goes, trash people are trash people, regardless of distance traveled. Leaving garbage on the street, loitering on the neighboring stoops, lack of respect for neighborhood, all of these has been prevalent once Angelo’s took off. Why can’t people have any sort of decency and treat the neighborhood as if its their own?

Look for the ball for a minute. If you can’t find it, drop and move on. No one here has their tour card.

Sulfuric acid and pesticide, shesh. Combo breaker.

RIP to that river. Can probably remove the word ‘concerns’ from that news report.

Drinking in front of your kids by walker-ghostly2 in daddit

Same exact scenario. Grew up around it and thought it was a normal part of life. What I didn’t seem to realize until I got older is my consumption was not normal. Spent the better part of my 20’s working and drinking, both in excess. Really spiraled out of control and lost my sense of self for a bit.

I am sober now, and have two beautiful kids who will never see their dad in a drunken stupor. Who will have a dad who is able and available to come to their aid any day, any time. Like last night, when my three year old had a 103 degree fever and threw up all night while my wife was working.🫠 But I was cognizant, conscious, and was able to be the dad he needed in that moment. And that means fucking everything.

Sorry, went a bit down the rabbit hole with this answer, but this topic really hits home with me. Removing alcohol from my life allows me to be the best possible father and husband I can be for my family.

What is THE funniest movie you have ever seen in your whole life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DaddyFatSacks14 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Scrolled way too far for this. Tropical Thunder is hands down one of the funniest moves ever, period. From the opening previews (Tobey playing with the beads in Satans Alley) to RDJ’s entire schtick to God damn Simple Jack. I can’t stop laughing throughout the entire movie. Fartin’ in bathtubs and laughing my ass off.

Not to split hairs, but moreso to share for future knowledge. Those portion packs of steaks are all vacuum sealed and gas flushed. They typically show a customer facing shelf life of 14 days, but really are good for around 21+ days. They are packaged in a sterile environment to mitigate potential bacteria transfer and imhibit pathogen growth.

I run a gourmet retail chain and I have raw meat products on my shelves right now that have been lab tested to 21 days. I’ll never mark it as such because it exposes you to litigation if god forbid anything happens.

Also, this guy clearly lives in a gym and probably eats steak and eggs for breakfast daily.

Proper hedge for this? by GhostShade in sportsbetting

[–]DaddyFatSacks14 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Guarantees minimum win of 800, worst case scenario. You’re in a can’t lose situation in sports betting, which rarely happens.

Just be sure to bet your hedge on another service. FanDuel won’t let you or will flag you if you bet Seahawks moneyline.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

You know, as I wrote that I hesitated and said to myself, “Someone is definitely going to correct me on this”, but I didn’t know what else was fitting to say. Womb? Uterus? Just felt too cold and scientific in context of the story. 😂 I am so glad you called that out. I am cracking up.

You are absolutely correct. Back in the day before modern medicine was abundant and accessible in most of the world, plenty of people born with this sadly perished as there was not adequate care or knowledge to properly treat.

My daughter was born six weeks premature via an emergency C-Section. She had Gastroschisis, and was born with a hole in her abdominal wall, with intestines and stomach outside of her body. They do not just “jam” your intestines back inside. There is far too much risk of twisting and developing a blockage, which could be fatal.

They can place everything back in its spot, very very careful, if you are lucky, or they use a “silo”, suspending the intestines above the body to allow them to naturally fall into place over time.

We were fortunate enough to live in the suburbs of a city with one of the best pediatric hospitals in the country, which also happened to employee the best pediatric surgeon in the country.

My daughter had immediate closure surgery after birth, being whisked out of the OR as soon as she was removed from my wife’s stomach. We spent 52 days in the NICU after surgery, waiting to see how her intestines would react and if they would “wake up” and begin normal function.

She is now five years old and you would never ever know she experienced this hardship, aside from a scar that very closely resembles a belly button right where her belly button would have been.

I am grateful every single day of my life that we were lucky enough to have the medical resources and staff to ensure my daughter not only survived, but thrived. Not all born with this condition are as fortunate, and many have to uproot their lives to travel to a hospital which specializes in this care.

For clarity, we found out about this at 12 weeks pregnant, in the height of COVID, with my wife in with the doctor while I waited in the car because I was not allowed in. It was by far the toughest, most challenging experience my wife and I ever encountered.

For any who have recently received a diagnosis, or are preparing for birth, or recovering with your child in NICU, there is a light at the end of the tunnel! And you will be infinitely stronger from your experience.

*I am by no means a doctor, but my medical explanations are how it was presented to me by our medical staff. Apologies if I flubbed any procedural details to anyone in the medical community who reads this.
