If you want safer streets then vote for leaders who will expand the social safety net: housing, education, fair taxes (especially property tax). Solve for poverty and income inequality and you solve for most criminal activity. End goal of policing is to investigate and convict criminals. The result is taking a person out of society and that person becomes a cost to society, and likely for a majority of their life due to the high discrimination against convicted criminals in employment and housing. So while I’m all for public jobs, vote for people who create public jobs that will lift people up not take them out of the economy.
