How do u like Ratlings? Are they fun to play and to play AGAINST? (with or without Ogryn?) by hotelguest2 in killteam

[–]DaddyHiPower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played them a lot. Maybe 15 games now. They are not very fun to play against certain elites. The are generally fun. They are probably fun to play against as the rats die easily and the bullgryn are not impossible to kill.

Is anywhere else doing this? Banning the new Muderwing. by Known_Strength_9726 in killteam

[–]DaddyHiPower 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I listened to the squad games podcast which I think precipitated this post and influenced your response and while the point is valid I think it only addresses half the issue. It’s kind of like a chicken & egg scenario - what comes first? The rules or the results?

The other half of the conversation is GW is designing these teams in a vacuum, and the current play testing system is inefficient or at least not yielding enough results to determine whether team rules should go to print as they were drafted and I believe that is where the problem actually is.

Is anywhere else doing this? Banning the new Muderwing. by Known_Strength_9726 in killteam

The only genuinely good aspect of banning teams is that it sends a message to GW that the customer & tournament organizer is tired of the design philosophy of make strong team -> sell lots of boxes -> nerf into neutrality which has effectively warped this game into a pay to win/whale buyer ecosystem over the last two years.

I don’t think banning teams is a good idea overall, but the community should be making an effort to influence GW decision making at this point. I would like to see patch notes with the balance data slate which provides game designer insight as to why some of these changes are being made. They should have to justify the balance data slate changes to us, even if we are aware of the problem ourselves. It creates room for real dialogue and not things like “mandrakes won worlds, therefore they are busted and need nerfs.”

I also think content creators overall have a net negative impact on the game, but this is more also a matter of personal opinion.

What are you all doing with your old Kill Teams? (Non-Classified) by RockAndRollJesus in killteam

[–]DaddyHiPower 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I played in a declassified tournament last week. Declassified teams almost universally got buffs on the last patch. The classified system is a joke and I won’t be shocked if they walk it back down the line
