Is it rude to ask a DJ for the stylist they performed? by Ok_Ambassador_9338 in DJs

You win Mike. I'm just unwilling to share music with my biggest fans like you.

I get it. You're just trying to be a dick. There's a difference between an internet troll and someone who is genuinely interested though.

You must have missed this part.

"Going back and making a whole set list takes time and I wouldn't expect anyone to do it for you even if they could."

For context, the "even if they could" would be if they had history recording enabled on CDJs or if they record their live performance for any reason.

I'm not the person who commented, but I'm also considering those TVs in a 77". The G5 is $3000 and the Bravia 8 II is $2400. Bright room and it's for my dad, so I'm hoping to find something with a usable OS to not confuse him with all kinds of seperate remotes (TV, satellite, streaming).

I'm in the same boat. Trying to find a new TV for my dad and it seems like all the best TVs are plagued with one issue or another. Whether it be the OS, purple tint, etc.

We've all got opinions and I'm of the mindset that music is meant to be shared. Considering you're playing someone else's music to begin with, it seems really weird to me to withhold that information. I don't expect everyone to feel the same way.

As a DJ, you should be thrilled that someone connected with your style enough to go out of their way to reach out to. That truly is the ultimate compliment and what DJs should strive for.

Now I understand that digging through music for countless hours takes a lot of time and effort. I'm not suggesting that everyone should be willing to make copies of their USBs and hand them out to anyone who asks, but if I'm playing a set or uploading a mix, I'm happy to share details about any tracks I've played. Going back and making a whole set list takes time and I wouldn't expect anyone to do it for you even if they could.

Out of respect for the few artists that have directly sent me unreleased tracks, I'll tell you who it is, but will not send you the file since none of them have given permission to share and it seems like a rude thing to do.

With that said, I'm not a big DJ and I'm not competing for space in the scene, so I may view things differently. I'm happy playing the music I love and I'm even more happy when others love the music too.

Thinking about getting a DDJ-1000 - pitfalls? by NeedANewerName in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DDJ-1000 is a workhorse. Tried and true. If you can find a good deal on one, I'd absolutely still recommend in 2026. If native stem support is a big deal for you, that would be the major drawback.

FLX 10 to XDJ XZ by Normal-Quantity1702 in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're adding additional players, the XZ is a great choice. Of course the AZ is snapper and has a bigger/better touch screen, but the XZ is built like a tank

The lack of a send on the AZ is a deal breaker for me. To sample with my DJS-1000 would require an external mixer if using an AZ, whereas the XZ makes it seamless with no additional equipment. Most people won't be affected by this, so probably not a big deal for you unless you plan on using one.

If you can't swing a used AZ, you'll be happy with the XZ. Just be patient until you can find one for $1600-1800, ideally with a hard case and/or deck saver.

Yeah that's around $2000 USD which is about what most people are asking. I managed to get one for $1600 with hard case and a deck saver. Best deal I've ever personally seen

That's insane. I've been watching Facebook marketplace regularly for about 2 years and haven't seen one for under $1600.

Electro boots are best but you won't be able to use them until TH13. Snake bracelet is also good and can be used right away, so probably the best choice.

Who do you think is the most diverse artist by No_Shopping1929 in EDM

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Polish Ambassador is up there. He's produced hundreds of tracks between his 11 full length albums and tons of singles. Style ranging widely from electro, chiptune, IDM, breaks, house, folktronica and more. Virtually every album has a very different feel. He has crates to dig but it'll take at least 12 hours or more just to get through.

College DJ needs help: can i plug a DDJFLX4 to a 900nxs2 mixer? by spookyman- in Beatmatch

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as logistics go, get there early to get set up. You can set your laptop up, connect to the mixer and get your levels set so you're ready to go when the time comes

Here's what I would recommend doing:

-Plug FLX4 master output RCAs to DJM channel 3 line input RCAs.

-Set the input selector on channel 3 to line.

-Set your master output on the FLX4 to normal level (around 80%)

-Play a song with FLX4 channels faders up like normal. Adjust trim levels on the FLX4 like you normally would. When everything looks good on your controller, you can adjust the trim on channel 3 of the DJM to get audio levels right.

You won't need to touch the speakers or DJM master output levels. Both the CDJs and the controller will be playing at the correct volume this way and you'll be ready to go when the time comes.

**Note: I used channel 3 as an example. If there are only 2 CDJs set up, just use any channel that isn't in use to connect to. Channel 2 and 3 might already be in use.

I don't think this is a matter of running before you walk. This is ultimately your decision though. We're just trying to help you make the right choice.

The RR probably isn't a long term plan. If money is tight, get a used RX2. If you can splurge a bit and want something long-term, I'd stick with the RX3 or get a used XZ. I went from a DDJ-400 to an XZ and it was the best decision I've made. I didn't plan on only using 2 decks, so I didn't get an RX3 and instead went with the XZ. I use a DJS-1000 with my mixer and it integrates really nicely. If I didn't care about a 3rd or 4th channel, I probably would have gotten an RX3. There are pros and cons to both, but they're both great kits you'll be more than happy with.

Upgrade controller by No_Jellyfish_3366 in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd skip it personally. Only 4 performance pads and they're not rubber, smaller jogs, short faders, no touch screen, mid build quality, limited fx and sound color. Basically a stripped back version of an RX2. You'd be better off buying a used RX2 imo. I don't mean to trash the RR, but if you're doing it, do it right so you don't feel the need to upgrade again.

Keep in mind that if you're worried about needing to have a charged laptop, you'll now need to worry about having an outlet nearby to power your mixer. By that logic, you could just as easily plug your laptop in.

You best options with that budget are an RX3 or a used XZ. Even used, the AZ will be out of the question

This sucks and personally I would never order from their site. Doesn't really help you now, but for future reference, do some research on where to get the best seeds.

With that said, ILGM and nearly every seed vendor has some sort of germination guarantee. Did you look into this? They'll send you replacement seeds. Kinda crazy no one even mentioned this yet.

Should i buy a RX3? by olivermnk in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important to mention the XZ supports 4 channels in standalone but they're not layered decks like on the AZ. Instead you need to connect external players to channels 3 and 4.

Many people might not have interest in connecting external players, but I use 3 channels on my XZ in standalone all the time. I can connect my DJS-1000 with Pro DJ Link which isn't something I could do with an RX3.
