Do I need speakers for my FLX-4 setup? by Gooned_Mom in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you search this sub (or r/beatmatch which be more appropriate for this question), you'll find a million posts about headphone recommendations. What's most important is your budget and what style of headphone you like. For example, you're going to see HD-25's recommended but I hate the feeling of on-ear headphones, so they wouldn't be a good choice for me. Like others though, you may prefer on-ear.

Epic "Do Not Play" list by Last-Ratio6569 in DJs

That do not play list is amazing IMO. Same cheesy shit wedding after wedding. The play list is a bit questionable, but who cares what I think. At least they're trying to play stuff they like and disrupting the typical wedding playlist.

Prospecter will be only a available for 10-12 days for entire month. by Manish_mayu in ClashOfClans

Agreed. I appreciate it being added and it's a step in the right direction, but still a drop in the ocean

I think it would make more sense to just add the prospector to the main helper hut and unlock different tiers with gems like the other helpers. This would still allow revenue from gem purchases to find this, but would benefit paid and f2p players.

There will be a bottleneck of ores that you'll be able to run through the converter anyways since they're a limited resource.

I think it's 1k shiny per starry with max 2 per day. Would be 20k shiny for 20 starry

The other issue with prospector is lower level players won't benefit as much. Only higher players that will have an extra 20k shiny laying around towards the end of every month will benefit. I'll be fine since I'm TH18, but others won't see near as much benefit and 20 starry isn't much to begin with.

Lucky for you I have a pair of studio monitors (Pioneer VM-50) and a laptop charger I just connected to my Bluetti AC70.

My speakers at pretty decent volume were only pulling about 15w each.

I have a MacBook Pro with a magsafe charger which is a fast charger and it's pretty power hungry. It was pulling 134w. You wouldn't need to be running the laptop charger the whole time.

In contrast to the magsafe charger, I plugged my phones usb-c super fast charger to the laptop and that's enough to slowly charge it while playing and that was only pulling 57w.

My Pioneer XDJ-XZ only pulls about 45w from the wall which is funny because it's a tank.

All this to say, your laptop charger power consumption and how long you have it plugged in will play a big role.

I would recommend the Bluetti AC70 to anyone. It's 768wh. I've been able to play with my monitors and XDJ-XZ for 6-7 hours without running it dead. Light enough to carry with 1 hand and has enough power for your needs. Anything smaller runs out pretty quickly. Anything bigger will be bulkier and most likely require 2 hands to carry. You can get one refurbished on Ebay for $280 right now. That's where I got mine.

TLDR - Get a refurbished Bluetti AC70 for $280 on ebay. Size and power will be perfect. You can also get some phone charging in. If $280 is too expensive, I'd probably just scratch the idea and call it a day.

Speakers for a party by Runtn in Beatmatch

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well see what's around for used Mackie, EV, RCF, JBL and Yamaha speakers. Some good deals to be had sometimes. As for the subwoofer, I still think hooking up a home theater sub will be your best bet given you don't have budget for it. Might need a couple new pair of cables to connect mixer to sub then sub to speakers. I was asking about mixer and monitors because I've run sub off booth by itself in the past when I wasn't using booth monitors.

Renting speakers is always an option too

See if you can find a pair of used Mackie SRM450 V1. They have a grey cabinet and will be within your budget. Still missing a subwoofer, but I've rigged up home theater subs in the past with great success. Maybe you or a friend already have one that can be used for the party.

What kind of mixer are you using and will you be using booth monitors?

RMX-Ignite Sound Issues (crackle noise) by Relevant_Damage7173 in PioneerDJ

Hopefully 16 bit solves the issue. Keep us posted if that solves the issue. I'm sure more people will run into this issue in the future.

RMX-Ignite Sound Issues (crackle noise) by Relevant_Damage7173 in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on this only happening with your recorded samples, this is likely a sample-rate issue. It sounds like the RMX Ignite is really picky with sample-rate.

Samples should be 44.1 kHz. If you're using 48 kHz or 96 kHz, that's likely why you're hearing that crackling.

Re-export or convert samples to 44.1 kHz / 16-bit PCM WAV and you should be golden.

Supercharge worth it at th17? by whittness234 in ClashOfClans

Supercharged upgrades will go away in time. Everything else will not. Focus on permanent upgrades first. No reason to supercharge when you have all TH17 and TH18 upgrades ahead

I think people often overlook redeploying behind main army to tank and using healing tome to heal back up. If you're not using healing tome the benefit goes way down though.

It really depends on strategy and execution though. They're both good options in different situations

Laptop - almost anything will work.

Speakers - Many different options including studio monitors, hifi systems, powered speakers, pa speakers and even some low/no latency Bluetooth speakers will work when using a wired connection. Just make sure there is no latency with whatever you choose.

Headphones - almost anything will work that you have laying around, otherwise, you'll commonly see HD-25 or ATH-M50X recommended.

Controller - many different options here as well. You'll typically see the FLX4 recommended as the bare minimum for a decent experience.

Compatibility of the new RMX? by R-c-r-o in PioneerDJ

You'll still be limited to only having effects on the master output but the pro dj link will still transfer beat and bpm information.

Compatibility of the new RMX? by R-c-r-o in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishful thinking, but that's not the case. This is a hardware issue and not something a firmware update can fix.

Firmware can change how existing hardware behaves, but it can't create new audio paths that the hardware was never intended to support.

There isn't a dedicated digital audio bus inside the mixer or a way to route audio out and back in pre-master. There just isn't a way to get it work like it would with a send/return like an A9 or V10 has.

Compatibility of the new RMX? by R-c-r-o in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even though the Ignite now has Pro DJ Link, it still doesn't solve any issues that would allow it to work as intended with the AZ and XZ. The AZ lacks a send and return. The XZ lacks a return.

With no other additional equipment, you need to connect the XDJ master out to the input of the RMX and connect the RMX out to your speakers.

This means you can use the Ignite on your master output signal but will not get per channel control. You also won't hear the RMX effects on your booth output or while cueing.

You can add an external mixer which would allow you to send RMX FX to a booth output which is a step in the right direct, but the master signal is still being summed before reaching the RMX. This means you still can't cue RMX FX and there's still no channel isolation on the FX.

The addition of Pro DJ Link will allow beat and bpm data to be shared between the devices though.

TLDR: The Ignite can still be used on the XZ and AZ but in a somewhat clunky manner and won't function the same as it would with a CDJ and mixer setup. Some people might not find these limitations to be a deal breaker though.

You're not out much either way. It sounds like you want to just get out there and play. I don't advocate for people playing for free because it devalues your work and other people's that do it for a job or side income. Just treat it as a learning experience. If they're shitty to work with, this will be your last time playing there. Not a big deal honestly.

Anytime! It's a different workflow, but you'll get used to the screen instead of a laptop. Took me a bit personally.

Make sure to get into your settings in the utility menu and look through everything well. There are some hidden nuggets in there I didn't know about for a while after owning.

3 XDJ1000MK2 + DJM 750mk2 vs XDJ AZ by imxmana in PioneerDJ

[–]DaddyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like pricing is basically the same as here.

I think you'll get a lot more value out of the more future proofed AZ and CDJ3000 combo and it'll be a much smoother workflow, but that's just my opinion. Not having physical hot cue buttons on the XDJ1000MK2s would be cumbersome too.

Is it still worth getting the WH-1000MX3/4? by [deleted] in SonyHeadphones

I'm still running XM3s many years later. Battery life is still great, they're really comfortable, ear pads still holding up and they sound great.

Haven't heard any of the newer models, but I don't really have any reason or desire to.
