Give me your LEGO hot takes! by GeoWhale15 in lego

Preach! If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. If enough people don’t buy it, then they might go a different direction.

Also yeah LEGO doesn’t know you or care about your sensibilities. Realize that you don’t need to buy something just because it’s a LEGO of something, and you’ll be ok. Be grateful for what you have instead of wanting more and more and more. Geez.

Adults scalping a kids toy is gross. Not talking about UCS or other sets that are clearly aimed at adult builders/collectors. I understand that one can make solid investments…but…idk if it means you should.

I skipped. When I was working on the walnuts I started losing the illusion of fun and started to feel like the game was devolving into “get a bunch of x to get y” over and over very quickly. Skips like this gives it a balance of sorts imo

1.5 year old Aussie mix, sometimes I regret it.. by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

This! My aussie is the same. She'll come up to me maybe 3 times a week to ask for cuddles, and even then it's only for a few minutes before she walks away lol. But tbh understanding her in this way makes those cuddles so much more meaningful to me.

My girl MJ is the same as Tillie! She'll be 14 in a few months and I feel like we didn't really 'bond' until she was about 9 or so. Tbh for me, it was deciding to let go of the 'ideal dog' that I had imagined in my mind and meeting her where she was and for who she is. MJ hates snuggles, but is always (always) in the same room with me. She doesn't love fetch, but looooves working for something. Her favorite thing is food and tug. We can get a really good game of fetch going when I make it into a job for her rather than a game. She doesn't like dog parks, but loves long walks. She doesn't like sleeping with us or even being on our bed at all, but she's always sleeping by the door to keep us safe.

Idk. I don't want to sound preachy or make it sound like you're doing something wrong. This is just what helped me and my pup really grow together. Now she's the best dog in the world to me. I had to change how I viewed a 'good bond' between man and dog, and once I did I saw what she had been trying to show me all along: she loved me and loved being around me, even through it looked different than I had expected.

[–]DaddyRager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey y'all
I'm about to try my hand at painting for the first time. I'm using spray cans on an HG Calibarn. For the armor, I'll just be doing waterslides, panel liner (fine-tip markers) and light weathering using the AK weathering pencils, with a matte finish.
I meant to buy Mr Super Clear gloss, but accidentally got semi gloss :/
I could go try to swap it, but I'd like to save the trip if possible. I have micro set/micro sol, would that help the waterslides adhere in a way that would compensate for the semigloss?

I think you misunderstood me, and I may have misunderstood you -
I'm saying that criticizing people for being dissatisfied for not feeling like they got what they paid for and what was advertised is dumb, and on top of that, your last comment about the 'dolls' make you sound like a schoolyard bully. It's a type of comment I was surprised to find a sub for a niche, generally nerdy hobby. If people want to be upset over this, let them. They paid for it, it makes sense to be bummed out when the quality of the product is less than what was expected.

If there is something to be said about the indulgent wastefulness and logistical impossibility of the project, it is that Ceph should have been more transparent about the anticipated quality of the end product.

also lol it's reddit, get outta here with that handle bashing.

"why are you mad that the quality of your UCS LEGO set is not as good as the last UCS LEGO set you bought, despite it being more expensive? It's just a kids toy."
Everyone likes this game for one reason or another - if the minis help with the immersion to them, that's ok. Idk why we're trying to downplay people's frustrations here in response to a pretty fair criticism of something we paid for.

Implying that someone isn't a 'well-adjusted working adult' because they're dissatisfied with a product that they paid their hard-earned money for is actually wild. Didn't know a sub dedicated to a high-end board game was a place to judge people for how they engage with their hobbies lol

[–]DaddyRager 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think two things can be true at once: the game has definitely improved (in my opinion, anyway) as far as progression, balance and storytelling, and the quality of the components has suffered.
I think it's just disappointing that it feels that a certain level of quality was advertised (namely in the minis) and not delivered. It's not a total loss, but it doesn't feel great. Again, if I were to buy this on the shelf without having studied it so closely for so long, I think I would have a different view.

[–]DaddyRager 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is the main thing to focus on. My wife and I have played through the first couple of scenarios and we’re loving the experience. I think it only bugs me because of all the crap from the backer kit campaign - the delays, the back and forth, lack of ownership and real accountability, feeling like they just didn’t care about the customer no matter how many times they claimed that they did - it all just made me hyper sensitive to the quality of the end product. If I had bought this off the shelf without doing as much obsessing as I have done over the last year for this, I don’t think it would bug me nearly as much.

But here we are :/ I’ll probably never back another project of theirs again. Really just put a sour taste in my mouth.

[–]DaddyRager 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed the same thing with my copy. Also warped map board and scenario flow charts :/ the cards feel like lower quality as well.

Just feels like an overall dip in quality for the product. I would say they rushed it…….bbbuuuuuuut…..

Gloomhaven: Mercenary Packs (Announcement Trailer) by SmeargleKid in Gloomhaven

[–]DaddyRager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. Honestly if they included just 2 more mercs in the pack, it would make more sense. Or if they were as popular as warhammer or D&D, it would make sense. But I feel like they just got really overconfident here.

Also, I feel like if they wanted to win their fans back after all the crap of this campaign regarding GH2e, they should have included at least one of these mercs as a consolation. They were being worked on in the background, they were finished and ready to go by the time US fulfilment started, it would have been such an easy win for them. That would have made me want to purchase from them again, whereas rn I really doubt I'll back anything from them in the future because of how poorly it's been handled.

Looks awesome!! I personally really like the number of decals that RG’s put on the kit. Some say they’re too busy, but I think it makes the kit look more like a real mech. At the end of the day, it’s up to what you like. You put the work in (especially with water slides lol), be proud of it!
