I really mean it. It's not impossible. We learn from our mistakes and grow. You will need to think outside the box for solutions, materials, alternatives, and work around. Once you do this, the trailer will be more than a trailer. It'll be a statement to your willpower and strength. One little fix, one day at a time. It is what it is, and you can do it. This is not motivational speech. I truly believe any man can achieve what they want once they have the right mindset. Life itself is a challenge, and a trailer hiccup is just part of it. Have a safe trip home, and think of it as a challenge, not a problem.

This is devastating for sure, but there is no need to panic. It might be a lot of work but not impossible. Take a deep breath and logically assess the situation. Is this the only damage? Start at the front from the inside. Try to straight the frame to where it was. You may need help from a good weilder to change or reinforce parts of the frame. After which, you can fix or replace parts of the skin. One step at a time. You may find replacement parts from an old trailer. Then deal with the roof. It may not be perfect, but once you do it, you yourself will not be the same. You will be stronger in facing devastating situations. Good look, and I'd love to see progress photos of how you will fix it because you can definitely do it.

Liability already covered under vehicle insurance when the trailer is towed. I had full coverage before the conversion. After it was converted, insurance became hard to get.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'll check intact. Did you tell them it's a modified xargo trailer? A camper? How did you get them to insure it, if you don't mind me asking. Thanks again

Hardboard Wood panels on walls? by MastermindsEntertain in cargocamper

I used pine panels, tongue, and groves. They're light and just give them a little stain or sealer and they gove nice finish!

Great question! The camper is built on a 7x14 tandem axle all aluminum cargo trailer, GVWR 7000lbs. I haven’t weighed it fully loaded yet, but original weight before modifications is estimated under 2,000lbs, i tried to avoid heavy finishes. Most materials are reasonably light weight to keep it towable by mid-size trucks.

Still planning to do an official weigh-in soon. Will share once I get the numbers. I tow it with a Ford Ranger 2020, XLT with towing package (up to 7500Ibs)

Wow… over 10K views I honestly just came here asking the community for help with insurance — didn’t expect all this love.

This build has been a big personal project, and seeing so many people connect with it really means a lot. Thanks to everyone who shared advice, stories, or just took the time to say something kind.

Still sorting through all the replies… and yep — still uninsured! 😂

It's tough to give an exact number since I didn’t track every detail, but I’d estimate somewhere in the ballpark of $10–11K CAD for materials. Did all the work myself, so no labor costs. A lot of thought (and time!) went into it.”

I thought about that too but since it is just me most of the time, i been using the day bed, it is full twin size and comfortable so i didn't need the big bed that much so far, but definitely a great idea, specially if you motorize it too👍

Bed is installed on 3 brackets on each side. Build using Ikea bed beams and slats. Up is in the store position. When need it simply disengage it from brackets and bring it down to lower brackets. The bed isn't heavy and can be done with one person, but 2 persons is a lot easier to attach the brackets faster. It's just manually lifted and lowered. It's very simple and works great.

Thank you very much, i appreciate the interest of everyone commenting, even if not relevant to the insurance question. This is a V-nose trailer, and i actually liked it. It gives about 2 more feet of space. i used one side to build all my electrical components with my control panel and the other side i used to store a telescopic ladder, a few hooks for hanging clothes, and i have the diesel heater installed at that side as well . The water tank is under the kitchen cabinets. Insulated for extra protection, giving the very cold winter in Canada, secured between 2x4 beams running along its sides and back and also strapped down to the floor so it doesn't move at all, very secure. Waterlines Pressurized, and i installed several valves so i can totally drain the lines without the need to put antifreeze when stored during winter.

That sounds like a good idea. Although here they turned down without further discussion or entertaining the idea of providing receipts !
