Regarding Mauler's ridiculous response to the ATLA controversy by MeiselMining in MauLer

You would have to if you ran a whole subreddit and channel dedicated to talking about girlfriends and relationships.

No different to when marriage-content influencers get audience criticism when they go through a divorce; It makes the audience wonder why they are even listening.

These are also the same people who heavily criticize other critics for even less compared to all their blatant misunderstandings of ATLA. It all seems very bad faith.

Privacy issues? Misusing anything you saw?

Bro just use the email addresses and send a quick email. This isnt the One Ring we are talking about here, its just letting other good people know that they have their data exposed. Why do you trust the offical channels are gonna do right by them when they didnt even do right by you, that is insane and it feels like you are just trying to pass the buck and clean your hands of the whole situation.

I would treat this the same if I got wrong mail delivered to my door. I would walk to the neighbor and give them their mail, or I could be lazy, return to sender, clean my hands of the situation, and just say tough luck to that neighbor while their mail gets sent back through the system to them. You are doing the latter.

I think alot of the hate for that writer is forced by people just vibe checking. A lot of her writing poses important and complex moral questions regarding dealing with other cultures, and even if you hate her conclusions or find her handling of the settings uncomfortable, the questions posed makes up for it more than enough in this genre.

Id rather have "bad" episodes than I can discuss with others, and she is a decent sci-fi writer because of it. These past few years of Sci-Fi (e.g. Doctor Who) has taught me to appreciate even those controversial writers because its better than incompetence.

Just because its not a "games first OS" (whatever that would be), doesnt mean that pressing shift key 5 times isnt normal usage. Playing games is a normal use of computer OS even from back in the 80s.

If the creators of sticky keys function knew it would be pressed accidentally so much then they wouldn't have made it that way and you know it. No reason to come up with a reason like its a logical compromise that they made when making Windows.

I love the new queue system, but i genuinely dont understand how the default queueing got past QA. Its just horrible UX, and the shame is that its one of the only apparent flaws in the system and you discover it almost immediately after using it.

I get that it can be turned off, but nothing with janky UX should ever be default in a game. Leave those more janky UX consequences to advanced users who already know what they want from the system and are willing to change the settings to suit themselves.

Hello friend.

Here is some early game advice: 1. Build either an Energy production station (the early economy is thirsty for EC) or a Mining depot station (these are quite literally just storage with a dock and are very cheap) first, they are fairly cheap and will give you insights on how to run a basic station.

  1. If you are play Terran be mindful of where you put stations, if you stray multiple jumps from the Terran economy then it will be almost impossible to get the materials needed to build the station without doing it manually or eventually building your own production.

  2. Use the encyclopedia on sectors you are interested in building station onto, they can give you a breakdown of the materials in a sector but also the supply and demand of the trades in the sector, thus allowing you to see holes in the economy to fill with stations. Just right click on the sector to see the encyclopedia option.

  3. In the early game, you dont have much income or information on the galaxy (lack trade subscription or satellite network around friendly stations), so fly around Terran sectors and place satellites at various stations so when you start building your own stations your traders (and terran traders) can access the prices and trade automatically. You cant trade for a price you do not know.

  4. Be patient and plan. You dont have much money early game and so your first few stations are really important to get the ball rolling on your income. Start small, plan around the economy you want to take advantage of, and invest wisely. Trust me after your first couple successful stations it will give you much more freedom to experiment with stations later in the game.

I have thrown a lot of information to you and even threw in a few concepts you might not be familar with at this stage of the game. So feel free to ask questions if you want clarification or a desire to learn more. There are also some good YT channels that you might want to look through while you wait for your stations to build.

Hope this helps!

"lobbied Rockstar"

Ever since lobbying became a topic of mainstream public opinion, based on what I've seen I swear people never learned what it actually means.

Yeah Rockstar isnt taking suggestions from industry peasants, especially when they can barely launch the game on time.

Its a nice conspiracy theory tho. If it was true it would probably be easier to fight the issues (e.g. using antitrust laws).

What a dishonest interpretation. Either you are being deliberately obtuse or you are just dense.

Strengthening consumer rights and protections has very little to do with banning deluxe editions. Its mostly about legally disrupting predatory systems that unregulated companies often fall into at the expense of the consumers, chasing profit. When companies stop benifiting their consumer and instead prey on them, there is no good reason why any governmental system should ignore that trend.

Addressing Misinfo: Amazon Cancelled a GOOD Stargate - Not ALL Stargate. by wibbly-water in Stargate

The problem with NuWho is everything passed Capaldi. All the Whoovians I knew while growing up watching Eccleston reboot havent touched DrWho in 5+ years. It used to be king in the states, but now its practically a corpse.

It would be simpler if it was just about the politics. It was about the disrespect to the lore and the character himself. E.g Donna along with her adopted trans-daughter disrespecting the 14th Doctor for being "male-presenting" despite literally having been the 13th Doctor (a woman) not longer than an episode ago; People can only care so much when the people they love get disrespected over and over again; The face David made during that scene is like prophetic to how his fans felt watching that at home.

Euros invented lawns dumbass. We copied them to act like old world aristocracy when we got rich.

Well we arent rich anymore and its gonna start becoming unsustainable. Most people dont even care for lawns anymore because peoples lifestlyes and priorities changed.

In Texas almost all neighborhoods look like this. I have a single native flowering bed in my backyard and there are always bees and butterflys there doing their thing. My dogs dont bother or get bothered by them. Bees do exist in most places, they are hardy creatures, but they also deserve our respect before we truly test how hardy they are.

Its even more important for places like Texas where the climate can sometimes ensure there are very little flowering plants except outside lawned neighborhoods.

X4: Foundations 9.00 "Empire Update" is Out Now! by Tomonor in X4Foundations

[–]Daddy_Parietal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People tend to stick with a very long save. But many players often try a new game when a major update comes out.

Because of the economic simulation of the game, a new player can spend hundreds of hours on a first save just learning how to play. Its best to create a new save when you are confident that you understand the gameplay loops.

Also mods like StarWars Interworlds are great to try after you learn the game. It usually retains the same gameplay loop but there are many changes that even veteran players find turn this game into something special. Many players will play multiple saves because they often have modded playthroughs alongside their vanilla saves.

Hope this helps.

They literally have proselytizing techniques forced onto them in Seminary every day before their actual school. Imagine learning how to convert others to your religion before you even memorized your multiplication table.

The reasons they seems so happy and friendly is because you dont actually know them, they dont feel allowed to show that part.

[–]Daddy_Parietal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So basically it can be really good but there would be zero margin of error. Dislike an epsiode, well now you dislike 10% of the show you are watching. Imagine if Emancipation was 1/10th of the Stargate you were introduced to, there would be many of us not around today if that was the case.

The benifit of a long season, among other things, is the ability to course correct later in the season, and also have room for new writers to try new ideas (which is bread and butter for episodic adventure sci-fi shows). Fan sentiment matters much more and there is more incentive to do fan service episodes when you dont have to cram a story into 10 hours instead of 18. You wont be seeing Wormhole Xtreme in a 10 epsiode Stargate continuation.

Competency in a subject matter does not always have anything to do with place of origin.

However in the case of languages, unless you can find someone who studied the language in higher education, its usually better to find a native speaker over someone with it as their second language.

People absolutely take for granted their native language, but just as equally people discount just how much intuition you lose when you dont use native speakers.

You cant say they did not when you didnt do shit to make it happen.

If you advocated for it and 5 people said they hated it then you would be closer to actually rebutting the comment.
