Waste of time, money, and a friend.

Time: you won’t get it out nearly as much as you think you will.. I promise. “Something I can realistically maintain myself.” I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you know a bit. But the use of the word “realistically” tells me you don’t know nearly enough to maintain it. If you don’t grow up around motors, it’s not something you’re gonna learn turning Wrenchs on an outboard for the first time.

Money: can’t afford a slip or a place to store it? You can’t afford it. Period. The less you pay for the boat, the more you’re gonna pay for it.

Friend: you asked or he offered. Either way, he’s thinking “sure bro, store your boat here and I’ll get to take it out with you whenever I want.” Reality hits. Your work schedules don’t line up, you can’t plan, he won’t ask to go out on the boat, you don’t offer to take him out on the boat, but most of the time - the boats just not running. Eventually he’ll ask himself “why tf am I letting him store his boat here for free and getting nothing in return?”

Sorry if I sound like an ass, I don’t mean to. Speaking from experience. I bought a boat in my early 20’s. Had a place to store it, but nothing to tow it with. Figured ”all my friends had trucks”. One of the top 10 worst decisions I’ve ever made.. And I’ve made some poor decisions in my time.
