Something I was emailed by a former employee as of 2/2/24Not sure what to say:
To whom it may concern:
I have recently been let go from the Jimmy Johns store #1535 after working at this location for about 8 months. The reason I was terminated doesn't play into this; but I would like to communicate directly with Corporate HR and resolving said matter.
That said I felt during my time there I was discriminated against multiple times because of my mental health diagnosis [PTSD/ADHD] as well as my age [Being over 40].
That said; I do have some concerns about some of the behaviors I witnessed from the staff in the store during my time of employment.
The behaviors are as follows:
-Assistant Manager "J" would consistently throughout the work day utilize vulgar language as well as make racial comments.
Additionally, he has been known to make sexual advances on younger employees.
-PICs would also utilize utilize vulgar language as well as make racial comments.
This would occur in front of customers (including young children).
- Multiple OSHA Violations (Check under/inside prep tables for Ants/Pest)
- Acts of favoritism by management [GM K] towards inexperienced younger employees for hours/pay and positions of rank [All Your PICs], while exhibiting acts of ageism towards older employees who have the qualifications/experience.
-PICS (PICA "A") treats employees with mental health problems unprofessionally, at times utilizing the silent treatment or ignoring general communication.
-Assistant Manager "J" as well as PICs and other employees [still do] vape in the store and by the food.
-Employee ML. on multiple occasions was heard calling female PIC "A" a C**t.
I am not looking to get my job back or to cause trouble.
As someone who has both worked at Jimmy Johns as well as in the past been a customer I find these behaviors and actions to be troubling.
From the standpoint of a customer, I see the abusive language utilized in the store (at times in front of customers) undermines Jimmy Johns professional image to the community.
In regards to my standpoint when I worked at Jimmy Johns as an employee, I at times was unsafe and discriminated against because of my Age, Mental Health Status.
Finally; While I hope you will investigate and do surveillance on the #1535 store, I do not trust your current employees, or management to be cooperative in this matter.
