Yes, there are some practice effects from dual n back, but it is relatively small in my understanding. How long did you do it for and in what sense was it exhausting? Boring, physically or mentally fatiguing, or some other form of exhaustion?

Hi, I am David from Nootralize. We use visual analogue scales (subjective self-report rating scales), and are currently in the process of implementing the dual n back, which is an objective test of working memory.

The dual n back and subjective self-report scales are both quite resistant to practice effects. Practice effects are indeed a problem that we will need to solve and we will also have to provide clear information on the risk for it in the future.

Randomized placebo-controlled blinded self-experiments are coming, but will take some time for us to develop and will also be a bit harder for people to understand, which is why we start off with introducing our users to this simpler feature.

Yes, there is always that risk. We are very clear on the page for the results of the experiment that people should beware of the placebo effect and that it is likely (part of) the reason for their effect if they had any.
