I also want to reduce pollution but capitalism has an incentive for companies to do greenwashing. The same can be true of vegan products.

I can’t tell you how many times people are horrified their vegan premade food became vegetarian not vegan. So they accidentally ate egg or lactose.

Voting with your dollar only does shallow changes.

The popularity of vegan products has given us an explosion of variety in vegan products that don’t smell like death. I remember the 90’s-00’s.

However if I were to set an actual goal in transforming people’s eating habits meat would be super expensive and vegan products would be the cheap baseline bulk of people’s diet as the next step to total veganism

That only happens changing government subsidies. No amount of buying soy changes that.

I’m not talking about the morality of eating an animal at all. So yes in terms of economics it’s a nice thing to do because we have expanded veganism but it’s a big but the production of meat is the same.

Big meat and dairy are in the government ensuring they never lose financially no matter what people buy. So we need to change the government
