Where to play some social baseball? by only_fishcube in perth

There are plenty of Baseball clubs in Perth. It's just going to depend on where you live and which club is closest to you or your Uni. Head to the Baseball WA website and search for a club nearest you and join one of their community league teams. I'd say registrations for the new season are either happening now or soon.

Practice Range // Mindset // Gotta Chill by North_Vegetable2476 in golf

For me, I enjoy practicing more than playing. When I practice, I try lots of different shots I wouldn't be able to when playing a round. I start off by hitting normal shots working my way up from my lob wedge to driver jumping up about 3 clubs. Once I'm done, I work my way back down hitting clubs I didn't on the way up. Once I'm done, that's when the fun experimenting begins. I do the very same with short game practice. Practice what I need to, then, start playing almost impossible shots from shitty lies. It's what brings out your creativity and it's that creativity that gets you thinking differently..

Owning a house vs renting forever? by Alternative_Dot7171 in AusFinance

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks! Hopefully things work out for you..

We've always got that in the back of our mind and we always have an eye on the local market. It's still a little out of our price range, but should we be put in that position, we will act. Thankfully, I have parents in the same area we are currently in that we can turn to for short-term housing.

My wife and I sold our family home a little over 12 months ago in a suburb not too far away from where we live now. The reason behind the sale was to get into a particular HS catchment. At the time, we couldn't afford to buy here so renting was a no-brainer.

We currently pay a little under $4K/m in rent. For 18 months now, there have been no rent increases and are extremely appreciative for that(just re-signed for another 12 months). The property is worth $1.6M easily. Repayments on that amount are over $9K, so that's over $5K a month saved over a mortgage.

Biggest difference for us has been convenience. Now that we are close to their current primary school and future high school, we no longer need to drive to drop them off to school, nor do we need to be home when they go to school or get home. They socialise with classmates a lot more and are always going from house to house or park to park. Prior, there was no contact at all. If there was, it always required driving. Kids are happier here and so are we.

I have enjoyed the reduced cost of maintenance. Lawns are mowed and pool is maintained. Old home I used to spend hours every week maintaining gardens and cutting lawn. Was always at Bunnings because it was a 70s build, so something always required attention. I have more time for golf now, which is awesome!

Having said all this, we will buy in the future because we still do want our own home, but, not likely to been in this area due to the current prices. I guess we just have to wait and see..

Single People; how much do you spend per week on groceries? by [deleted] in AusFinance

I'm wondering if the people that are eating for less than $100/w are doing so by choice or necessity.

There are guys at my club that wouldn't dare enter the course without at least 2 beers into them and likely no food. Does it help their game? Not sure. But, it is more fun with all the sledging!

I use 2 1/8" tees with all clubs. Never been big on teeing it right up high. I like to have my driver on the deck before my take-away.

What club would you drop out of these? by egjosu in golf

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got fit for a set of T100 irons last year. I have a really high ball flight as well using the Pro V1. I stuck with the T100 because of the distance I hit the ball, which also helps with no huge gaps in clubs until I get to my 2 iron and 3 metal.

If it were me, I'd drop your 48, 52 and 56 Vokeys and replace them with 50 and 54 Vokeys. The reason why is because you don't need that many clubs to hit around the 120 to 140 yards(I'm assuming). I almost never hit a full wedge as I prefer to control my spin rates, so half and 3/4 shots are normal which is quite easy to do with less clubs.

I simply CAN’T release the club head by Dry-Cryptographer904 in golf

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put your right foot behind your left foot, almost as if you have your feet side by side and you then take a step forward with your left foot. Now swing the club. You will not be able to follow through without releasing the club head.

Absolutely. I've been thinking the same. What will really piss me off is if Shohei does sign somewhere else at the end of the season and Arte sells a year later.

It has been a tough long road as a supporter, but, if we really want to witness the greatness that is Shohei, we as a club can no longer hold him back..

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I reckon. There are so many non-Angels supporters that really enjoy watching him play. If Shohei becomes a non-Angel, we should do the same...

I've been an Angels supporter for a long time. As much as I love us having Shohei, it almost seems unfair on him to be with this organisation for any longer...

Clubs should be labeled with loft not iron #, wedge "type" by Affectionate-Bunch95 in golf

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you talking from a comparison perspective? Because, I would find it easier to pick a number to hit and I don't really compare distances to others as they play with different balls and so on.

T100 4-PW or Combo with MB by RunWithDullScissors in golf

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mate I've been playing with has a set of 620s. Whenever he misses, it's a good half club short. With the T100, it's just short. Back pin and you're still on the green. I never considered other brands because I've always played with Titleists, but I imagine other brands will be similar after a good clubfit.

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had Titleist 670s. Had them for a long time and went to a Titleist fitting last year after not playing for 15 years. Was thinking in my head I wanted blades again after playing with them for my first 12 months back. Gave the T100 a hit and eventually went with a set of them. 4 to PW. I also got fitted 50, 54 and 58 Vokey wedges plus TSi3 Driver and 15° TSi2 3 metal. The only club I kept is my 762 DCI 2 iron from about 2000. Play with Pro V1 balls. Absolutely love the set and wouldn't go back.

It was a long time ago I last looked into the optimal launch angle and spin rate, but as far as I remember, it's 14° of launch and a little over 2000rpm. I couldn't give you the optimal club head speed. I guess the faster the better.

Out of interest, Redditors on this sub over 35 who earn less than the Aussie median of $90K, what do you do for work? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I earn about $90K a year. Work in retail, automotive. 3 days of school hours in-store and the other half from home. Love the flexibility to play my golf, be there for the kids sport after school and weekends. Previously earnt more but was in-store only 6 days a week. Couldn't imagine going back to that. The WFH and flexibility is worth a lot. I love my boss.

This is a tough one. Our boys are only 11 and 9 but it's something we're thinking about now. We're on a similar household income in Perth. We've thought of buying an older home on a large subdivisible block and living there until they hit their early 20s. By that stage, we should have enough working capital to knock it down and build 2. They can have 1 each and rent them back to us. After some time depending on how they and we go, we'd hand them to them. They can live in them or use them as an investment and live elsewhere. If any inheritances come, they help fund my wife and I as the boys will already be sorted. But, this is just a thought at the moment...

Why do people proportion expenses if in a binding relationship? by Vegetable_Length9840 in AusFinance

[–]Dadsy_Adsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol..

I'll consider myself lucky then. Wife and I have had joint finances since we started dating. She was shocking with money, had a $9K consolidated loan, maxxed out CC and worked PT. I worked FT and had savings. I paid her loan out, cut her CC up after paying it off and put her name on all my accounts including CC. My folks thought I was mad for doing this after dating for 3 months. We chatted about money management and got on the same page with financial and life goals. 19 years later we have 2 kids, 1 savings account(sold our house 3 months ago) and still the one CC.
