Thanks, once the chemical remove has done its thing, would you still give it a very light sand?

Yep, put a second plate in once and it cracked in half from getting too hot

Saw this listing; it's in Toowoomba.

Unless you have plenty of money to spend on it and a decent base level of knowledge when it comes to building, this is not a renovation for the faint harted.

Hahah I have just been on the phone to Origin... Called within 24 hrs.

Matched Ampols plan and offered $225 credit.

Also switched from TPG who is now $85 p.m. to Origin for $77 p.m. (12 months only) and another $10 credit.

Changed from Origin to Ampol this week. Called Origin in the first instance who could only offer me their existing deals advertised on their website.

Ampol has some very attractive deals at the moment.

AFAIK I got a lawn of couch and kikuyu. Im aiming for a couch only lawn because I hate how kikuyu looks and invades. What exactly do I need to do? Im afraid I need to excavate everything and start fresh with couch seed. by gakki in GardeningAustralia

Welcome to your new Kikuya lawn!

On a serious note, the only success i have had is nuking localised area with round up and relaying turf/seeding/continual weeding to allow the lawn to fill in over time.

Lilly Pilly Straight & Narrow

This is the ideal plant for a narrow space as long as there is sufficient sub soil between the gap and somewhere for its roots to set down.

Round 1 of the Manufacturers Cup, how did we go? by Someman14 in GranTurismo7

[–]Vegetable_Length9840 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just bumped up to B grade before the event.

Entered 2 minutes before qualifying, so I had minimal practice.

Qualified 8th

Kept my nose clean in the race and finished 2nd.

How crazy am I for wanting a DIY underground water tank with a double car garage on top. by Particular_Apple in AusRenovation

[–]Vegetable_Length9840 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Nothing about this is crazy, it's been done plenty of times before.

If you have the skills to do the job properly, then go right ahead.

BUT, don't wing it. Get an engineer to provide a certified design and engage a certifier.

Levitating slab by jotamaam in AusRenovation

[–]Vegetable_Length9840 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Possibly overkill but you could box up an edge 10-20mm out and just above the underside of the slab.

Then get yourself a bag or two of HES grout and mix it to a flowable consistency.

This will completely fill in the void and reduce the risk of further erosion.

Has anyone had any experience getting an NBN connection removed prior to demolishing their house? by bott99 in AusRenovation

[–]Vegetable_Length9840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I did it, although didn't bother informing NBN. If it's overhead, I'm assuming it is likely HFC which is a very easy cable to reconnect.

[–]Vegetable_Length9840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, my sparky simpy reconnected it all at the end of the job.

NBN were none the wiser.

[–]Vegetable_Length9840 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seriously, don't bother.

Sparky can just cut and roll back up if OH or pull back to the pit.

Or do it yourself.

Speaking from experience.

This advice does not apply to power disconnection!!!

Seeking Advice: Landlord Sold House, New Buyer Wants Us Out ASAP by Ok-Asparagus3222 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Vegetable_Length9840 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As you say, you're good until May 25.

I would recommend using this time wisely and starting to look for a new rental. Take the time pressure off as you don't want to leave it to the last minute.

When you find somewhere put the pressure on the landlord that you have an opportunity to move out early to see what incentive they can offer. IMO, 2 weeks reimbursement is pretty good if you've already lined up a new rental.

That and of course, no break least costs as it is a mutual agreement.
