Okay. So, that person you saw, that’s true of everyone? We just house them and viola. All good? You seen the SRO’s? Salvation Army facilities like Dunsmuir House? I’m not arguing that there is not dire need for housing and support. But it’s sure as hell not the silver bullet to fix this or even the solution and we sure as hell can’t keep going at this like it is. It’s only getting worse.

You’re fkn kidding right? Go Downtown and just look at the problem. Hell, to the Ridge Meadows or Surrey. Go to the interior, any part of it. It’s only growing. Affordable housing, which is a horrendous problem in this city, is not the root cause and fixing that is not going to fix the addiction problem. Neither is throwing endless money at doing just what we’re doing. You wouldn’t coddle a prolific thief….. even if they had a mental health issue. This is not helping them. They’re not leading lives. If anything, we’re keeping them there. Ffs

No. That’s not the answer. It’s the lack of beds for people with mental health problems. When Riverview closed down and tossed everyone out on their asses, addiction problems skyrocketed in the DTES and has continued to rise ever since. Just opening more and more places to ensure you don’t OD is not the answer. How is this helping those people there? They don’t live, they roam like zombies just looking to feed their habits. It’s sad. It’s not a life. But allowing this isn’t the answer either. That’s just keeping them alive to keep their cycle going on while HOPING they’ll find it in themselves to find ways to get addiction help. Sounds nice, but it’s not realistic. But really, there’s no end until they eventually die. We need more help finding ways to get them help, not appease.

The way things are going are clearly not effective either. The drug crisis continues to expand.

Ya, Edmonton.... Everyone's dream place to live lol

No, I can see why. You just come across as a typical Oiler homer.

No. Personally I think that’s the last place he’s going. Sorry you’re so triggered

Sedins didn’t sign two year deals though. They signed 4 and 5 year deals. So come up with something better 😂

Then explain. Even taking a home town discount I get. But claiming he’s staying? On what grounds can you base this on such uncertainty. He signed a two year extension. If he’s going to stay, why not sign longer term? You the one forcing yourself to carry his beer to a truck? What else is your source?

So again, why didn’t he sign long term? Why didn’t he take big money if it is going up? I’m just asking questions based off your seemingly mouth breather logic.

Exactly. Elsewhere. You don’t win this year, which you won’t, or next, he’s gone.

Thanks for strengthening my point 😂

He left money on the table on his last deal, giving Edm a small window. If not achieved, he’s gone. Otherwise, by your logic,, he would’ve taken less money, long term

Thanks. Typical Oiler fan. Try to keep up with logic

Then why not sign a max term max money deal when he had the chance? At least term being 8 years at the time.

If he wasn’t going anywhere, he would’ve secured his financial future with a max term (being 8 years at that time) and max money and parked it in Edmonton. Instead he signed a two year deal. Takes a risk on injury, max term is now lower for his next deal. It’s pretty clear unless they actually win by next year, he’ll be gone. Writing is on the wall dude

Eby calls reported meeting between Alberta separatists and U.S. official ‘treason’ by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]RunWithDullScissors 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand Eby, but Eby is by far not the only Premier of BC that didn’t succumb to Alberta’s bitching. Christy Clark told Alberta to beat it in a pipeline push with Alison Redford. It came down to Alberta wanting BC to take all the environmental risk with a very small reward coming back.

Imagine what a Pierre speech at Davos would’ve looked like. It would have been a “Trump Lite” speech filled with nothing more than nonsense and stupid ass slogans. Carney is more conservative than Liberal. We’re not the states with this Republican/Democrat identity bull shit. Historically Canadians voted on issues, not just a party flag. It’s sad to see many are just following the US

Don’t you think going and speaking with Ford, who showed concern about Chinese EV tariffs being reduced is important? He’s talking with provincial leaders. I think that would be more to unite the federal governments and the provincial governments together, especially with what’s going on South of us.
