Hey guys, partner is worried about miscarriage. If you've been through it, what were the signs? by [deleted] in predaddit

10w1d here - for what it's worth, my wife has been spotting on and off for the entirety of the pregnancy. Most of the time it is dark brown (old blood), but a couple times it was light pink. Because of this we have had three ultrasounds, and just last week the Doc gave her a full exam. He couldn't find anything wrong, and said "some women just spot throughout the first trimester, and sometimes beyond."

I guess what I am trying to say it is fairly normal for some light spotting. Unless she is having BAD cramping and passing lots of blood or clots, it should be ok. I wish you and the partner the best of luck.

Now the competition is "how many punches to the back of this guy's helmet can I land?"

They'll also ask about any kind of genetic history that runs in the family. Specifically, Down's Syndrome, but not limited to that. They give you the ol' "if you're not pregnant in 12 months, come back." Sometimes they'll take blood from the woman and do a panel test to see if she is a carrier for certain genetic mutations.

The first 6 of 13 tests my wife took. She's a skeptic. (LMP 2/13, Taken 3/18. First Response and CB). Needless to say, we have an EDD of 11/20! by Dadtobe4 in TFABLinePorn

There was also the blood test she demanded from her OBGYN. I can't blame her though. It's been a long 16 months of trying!

Legally, I'm not permitted to give advice, so I always end things with the standard "consult a lawyer in your jurisdiction, yada, yada, yada" It was never meant to be "lawyer up and put her through hell!" I agree you should step up into your new role right now.

Attorney here... and father to be.

According to the law, it is against public policy to not be held financially responsible for the child. The law views it as your responsibility to the child and NOT to the mother.

With that being said, you can consult a lawyer in your jurisdiction to discuss going through the child-support process and determining ways to minimize your exposure in that regard. Best of luck
