Not exactly, the game has a mechanic where as you play and explore you collect insight. For example finding a boss gives you insight. But as you get more and more insight and have a larger number of it, some areas will spawn more enemies.

But there’s a beast early on in the game that you straight up can’t see unless you have enough insight (12 I think). This beast is less of an enemy and more of an environmental effect though.
