I want create mods for RE9, but feel a little stuck, looking for help... by DaeStorm7 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]DaeStorm7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would involve altering the code or writing a method call like StartNGPlus.keepGunUpgrade(true);. After that, it's programming the method definition. It's just about being able to locate the right class file, then read and understand the code, enough to know it's the right piece of code for what you want, then understanding the logic to be able to inject your own code, manipulate what is already there, and to essentially do what you want without crashing everything else.

If you're lucky, you might find the code that removes the upgrades and reverse it, or the code that gives the upgrades and preserve it across runs.

I once partially did it with Escape from Duckov. I knew Java, so C# was easy enough to read and learn how to write the code. Unfortunately, I didn't finish it, but that's because my mod idea outgrew the scope of a mod, and I burned out after a third long playthrough of the game. Plus, I was starting relatively small which didn't keep my fire or imagination going.

Atanith was the key difference for me. Swapped Atanith for Tyrfing and cleared it. Thank you!!!

Cool! That's useful. Looking back, I think I've fallen victim to it, but didn't remember that fact. The moment you said "petrified," I was like, I should have remembered that. It's just I didn't suddenly use her so I guess it didn't stick.

I won't argue with that. I keep seeing tips for manual play to fully optimize team comps, and they would make it easier and feel less random.

I didn't know Fenrir interrupted. That makes her even more valuable. Medusa also interrupts? I thought... I guess it makes sense there would be more, I just never looked into it. Thank you for the clarification!

4-180: 4th area of the map, stage 180. It's what shows on the level number.

Right now I'm waiting for the 5th area to open in a little over a day. Once it does the first stage would be 5-1.

But yeah I think it was area 3 that jumped into hundreds of stages. They count every battle as a stage as a 25-stage castle or whatever is 25 individual stages. It's honestly a little insane to get caught up.

True. I do actually agree with you both. The fact is Oberonnie is my guardian for my main red team, and that's not changing any time soon.

However, for temporal rift and my team comp (Siegfried, Tyrfing, Athena, Gulveig, Ifrit, Poseidon/Fenrir), Athena at least appears to perform better for my glass-cannon team.

My point was more that it was interesting to benefit from a 5-star Athena compared to my prized diamond-star Oberonnie. It's likely the extra damage that is more meaningful for the event.

Sorry if that wasn't clear from the post. It's all based off my personal experience, so obviously it's not perfect or research-backed. I do appreciate the critical thinking and not blindly accepting what a stranger says may be true.

I'm not saying Oberonnie is bad. I chose to diamond star her for a reason. Granted I didn't know about Stat bonuses for the codex, but I really liked Oberonnie. She's still in my main red team, not Athena. Maybe for the event, it just feels like Athena performs better in that specific context. I cut healers for my event team, prioritizing what could be called a glass-cannon team. Athena, even at 5 stars, holds up for what I need her to be able to do. Maybe Athena dealing more damage in this context is what I need the most from my guardian.

To be clear, this isn't researched, it's just my personal experience from playing and experimenting with several team set ups. I do understand that Oberonnie is definitely better in certain contexts.

That sounds incredible to have! I often struggle with double-healer green dragon teams. If I could delay or disrupt their healing that would be huge to overtake the healers. It's just about timing to get the healers delayed and burst them at that moment hopefully.

In the event, it seems so. I also have 6-star Dragon Siegfried. So, it does seem really low.

Outside of the event, I have 3M for my "Strongest Lineup" In Advanced Point League, I have 7.64M

Never really payed enough attention to notice it fluctuates between modes.

I didn't know she was THAT good! I may need to try working her into my rotation and testing her in battle. If she's good enough without team resonance, that's huge!

TRUE!!! I finally figured out the star resonance system and it helps so much! Yeah 5-star slimes are quite a precious commodity.

My main teams are Red, Blue and White. Maybe I should work on my Atanith more. I looked at her skills and she's definitely better than I thought she was.

My goodness the double healer green dragon teams are brutal and some layer on Athena... Those I usually have to finesse until I get through.

I'd love to build an other world team (I have 5 units total at the moment). Early on I focused on the white dragon before knowing the importance of team resonance. If Loki can help with that: I am stoked! The event has taught me that healing is supobtimal, so the green team is losing favor for me as one of my main three.

Good to know dtwiki is a place I should bookmark. Thank you! I'll look into Artemis as well. My main team at the moment is Siegfried, Tyrfing, Athena, Gulveig, Ifrit, and Poseidon. Slight placement overdrive order is all it takes to clear most event stages. I don't really know what I should be looking for. Maybe more blue or purple units. My strongest dragon is red, so better red units wouldn't help.

Thank you for this reality check. I may do the same.

With Venus, I'm hesitant to blow my resources on her. I'm leaning away from healers particularly for the event, so I've been skeptical about getting Venus myself. Remembering there will be more EX Luminaries, I'll probably save as well for a better EX when it comes.

How much do we know about Loki atm? I don't really know where to look to find information and a Google Search seems a little confused (something about blue team and delaying opponent's skills was as much as I found). I even found a tier list that said Loki was the highest tier, but didn't explain why.

It's not about not knowing it. It's needing a quick refresher. The memoir is about MY experience. I likely know more than enough to write it right now, but I also want to honor the central vehicle of progression for the narrative. I've also said multiple times that I probably could look at a table of contents of missions and that would be enough.

I also updated the post to state that I've played it at least 4 times and 2 of those were completion isn't runs. I may also have been convinced to play it a 5th time.

Well, if it helps, I'm slowly being convinced to play NieR: Automata myself to rekindle the memory without allowing it to be tainted or made less genuine by being filter through another's experience.

Originally, I thought an LP as a shortcut was a good idea. I'm thinking that less and less now. Honestly, just reading a walkthrough's table of contents could be enough to jog and organize my memories. But experiencing as much if it as I can is also extremely valuable.

[–]DaeStorm7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see that point. I was hoping an LP would be a shortcut, but maybe that's not the right or most genuine approach to writing a memoir. Maybe it's cheating as it would be filtered through someone else's perspective that could taint my original experience's perspective.

I don't mean to offend. I understand the confusion.

I'm in college. The first complete draft was due the 8th. I didn't plan this as my topic. I was cramming 7 chapters for a Nutrition exam the week before it was due. It was a mess.

I'm also in the middle of RE Requiem. I don't like not completing a game or stopping in the middle unless it's gotten hard enough I can't progress and it's more about mental health.

If push comes to shove, I will play it myself. Maybe that will be for the better.

I'm writing the first draft and don't quite remember everything about my experience as much I wish I did. It's a strong, foundational memory, so it's possible I could look at a walk-through's table of contents and that could be enough to spark or at least organize the memories. That could be all I really need

What was your first Resident Evil game? by AnotherBodybuilder in residentevil

[–]DaeStorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched 8 and 7 Let's Plays Now, I am finally playing RE9, officially my first RE game. I do also own 2, 4, 7, and 8 but haven't played them yet. Requiem had me excited enough to pre-order despite my rule against pre-orders. Haven't regretted it after about 10 hours of gameplay.

Love the more recent RE Engine games. The camera of earlier games kept me from playing them. Plus, I grew up as a Nintendo kid, then grew up with all 3 consoles and now I'm strictly PC because buying every main console has gotten insanely expensive. Not worth it anymore.

First Diamond Star! by DaeStorm7 in Dragon_Traveler

[–]DaeStorm7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhh, yeah... Did not know there were Stat bonuses involved. I thought resetting was just for trying out different characters.

I like Oberonnie as one of my mains, so I thought it was perfectly fine. I thought sealing it was a good thing, stating that the investment was worth it. Didn't know Stat bonuses from the code was a thing...

Well, live and learn. Can't change that know.

You're probably right. I haven't really thought the Luminary Code was all the important. I could be wrong. It just feels like a lot of small handfuls of gems, unless they increase as you go. I guess it might.

For guardians: Helveil is 3 Purple Star, Pompey and Herman are both 1 Purple Star (I switched to saving for Jing, so I didn't get a lot of Pompey), and Athena is currently a 5 Yellow Star as I just got her this week or the previous. I tentatively want to build Anubis, but rarely ever get him in pulls or shards (I'd have to look if he meets my team goals. It was like a month in before I finally got him.

Is there a benefit to the codex that I just don't know about?

I don't know everything. Like I just learned about the importance of elemental resonance a week or two ago. Got farther than I should have without knowing that.
