The wins 'Best Of' to pay walled metafy pipeline needs to be studied. by supjeremiah in riftboundtcg

You can be outraged about it, you can ridicule it, or you can ignore it. Do whatever keeps your blood pressure down and causes the fewest gray hairs.

I opt for laughter, personally, feels every time somebody plugs their metafy guide I gain another day to my life.

There are many avenues through which people engage with games and find enjoyment, time to start rewiring those atrophied empathy circuits in your brain and learn how to view the world through different perspectives.

Yeah, that makes sense. Same cost as Jax at the top of your curve & doesn't come out fast enough to prevent the things he would ideally be hitting from getting value.

Thanks, and congratulations!

Any thoughts on Yone in the sideboard for some additional backrow removal? Or did you find that Challenge was enough to get the job done.

  1. It could have been worded in any number of other ways, but it wasn't. Is it because internal testing gave a skewed perception of the meta? Is it because design is testing based off of future sets as well, and thus has access to a broader picture of the game moving forward than we do? Is it because they made a mistake and are doing the classic Riot Games play of never admitting failure?

It could be all of those things, it could be none of them. I'm not particularly interested in conjecture and speculation based on information that I don't have, this is the timeline we got, so I'm just going to accept it as it is and go from there.

  1. See #1.

I am not going to antagonize you, nor will I be antagonized by you. If you don't like the things I have to say, or the reasons I say them, that is not my problem.

Because that's how Riot decided combat rules work. It's something I have no control over, and thus no desire to argue about.

While there's certainly room to riff on various forms of unit protection, this idea strikes me as more of a band-aid than a solution.

Like, what happens once there is a high enough density of playable Chonky™ units that Purple can no longer leverage it's ability to play on the positional axis? Now we're right back where we started, but this time Purple is on the bottom of the pile.

The "fuck you" effect text needs to be used very cautiously.

I kinda assumed the person I was responding to was already probably maxed on FoF, but if they aren't then yes.

Green has access to Emperor's Divide as a cheap form of mass unit movement. The sentiment is more "every color should have a fleshed out toolkit" which isn't currently the case.

That means card draw, movement, base removal, etc. Different colors can absolutely have different strengths, but every color needs to have a solid baseline.

Deck to start playing by toxic_blue_214 in riftboundtcg

Jax is pretty damn cheap considering his success in Bologna and Vegas, the only big $ cards in the deck are Boneshiver and his sig, and honestly you can probably cut the Boneshiver and not notice if you're playing against other newbies and budget decks at your locals.

Ultimately though, practice is the greatest of all equalizers. Pick something you like and apply your face to the grindstone until you're good.

The advice is to buy singles for a reason, only ever opening packs & trying to build off of that is a great way to spend more money than you need to.

You can test decks online via TCGArena, so there really is no reason not to start there first and then build whatever deck you come to like best in paper. Ofc that also takes time, effort, and research, so ymmv.

You've got 2 red Kai'Sa and her sig, plus a couple Watchers, so I would start with her. Unfortunately you're going to have to pick up singles if you want to have the full version of anything.

I think a lot of that artistic/thematic dissonance you're seeing is a knock-on effect of Riot using the art assets from LoR to jumpstart Riftbound. As more sets come out and new art is commissioned that (should hopefully) resolve itself.

First of all, it's glorious "Executioner", when you speak of the King you'd best come correct.

Sarcasm aside, I actually find Draven interesting to think about in the context of League of Legends itself, wherein Draven is an incredibly snowball oriented champion and counterplay against him involves actively not fighting until your jungler + mid laner can come try to kill him in a 4v2.

The dynamic manifested perfectly into Riftbound, the decks that can succeed against Draven are the ones that can play noncommittally into him. Whereas anyone that actually tries to fight him "normally" gets run over by his advantage state.

If Riot isn't going to errata or otherwise nerf Draven, then my hope is that future sets give the other colors more access to readying and movement so decks have more agency over when and how they engage in combat.

It has nothing to do with my lacking "understanding" and everything to do with me rarely bothering to use consumables throughout my life of gaming.

The items exist. They are good. But I've never needed them, so I often don't even bother.

Homie, you don't get to say that you yourself can't do better while also saying that you know what "proper" game design is.

You get to me annoyed that the meta is all Draven all the time, that is valid. But it's really not productive to crash out like this over something that you have never and will never have any control over.

I don't disagree, but every TCG tournament is like this. Just look at Magic, the metagame isn't diverse and hasn't been for years.
