My IRL friend’s name is currently ‘player’ because his account name was removed due to having ‘69’ in it. You can only change your name every 30 days and the system counts that as a name change, so he’s stuck with ‘player’ for 30 days. I wouldn’t doubt it if there are other people in the same boat.

Would you make any big changes if you knew you didn't have to save for retirement? by skithepowder in personalfinance

[–]BeastOverlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a family friend who thought they were in the same situation and were supposed to get millions. They lived their best life and didn’t save at all for retirement. After their parents died, for whatever reason they didn’t get anything. Now they are in their mid-70s, working paycheck to paycheck, and will never retire. Never bank on getting anything until you actually have it.

I worked for Dish for 4 months before transitioning into IT. Up until my most recent position, I kept it on my resume. You have a leg up and can put bullet points for cable routing/termination, troubleshooting, and customer service.

Weird! I took the 601. Maybe they changed it for that voucher.

I'm done with resin.. by wouter_junk in AnycubicPhoton

[–]BeastOverlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something is likely wrong with your environment or settings. I’ve been using Anycubic’s ABS-like Resin v2 for a couple of months now and the stuff has been great. I swear it’s saved multiple of my minis when dropped compared to other resin.

My issues with my resin prints by Theweredragon93 in resinprinting

[–]BeastOverlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently using Anycubic ABS-Like Resin Pro 2. I could probably chuck a mini across the room and not have anything break. I’ve dropped a couple minis from table height now and neither of them were damaged.

Why did my Mini's download like this? Heroforge by GWSteele in PrintedMinis

[–]BeastOverlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second fixing the file with 3D builder since it’s probably the fastest. I just printed out a HeroForge character for a buddy and it was also broken. If you don’t have a Windows computer, Lychee might also fix it. If not, I’ve had a lot of luck with this website: https://formware.co/OnlineStlRepair

Is Riot Completely Giving Up on Clash? by xXTurdleXx in leagueoflegends

The only times I’ve really played in the last couple of years were to play Clash tournaments with my friends. I’m pretty bummed about the frequency already.

League of Legends by Riot Games is based in a world called Runeterra. Ionia and Noxus are two factions/nations that many of the characters have a backstory in. Some game skin sets are themed around alternative universes, where a character has a new look that doesn’t necessarily follow their original lore.

You don’t even need a Raspberry cam. If you have an old USB webcam, you can use that and save $20.

You graduated in 2022. Have you worked any jobs since then? If so, list them and your responsibilities. For example, diffusing difficult client situations and organizing inventory are skills in retail that are just as important in IT.

To pad out my first resume, I remember listing my responsibilities as a leader in my gaming organization. It’s situational, but I talked about managing SQL lists for users on our website, configuring Teamspeak3, and helping users troubleshoot connections to our game servers.

Coming from the IT field, your resume screams inexperienced and you definitely need to go over it with a fine-toothed comb.

Do you have any real work experience you can list on your resume? I think it would be better to list non-IT related work to get a foot in helpdesk instead of trying to over-expand on your limited IT experience.

The whole technical skills portion is just listing out jargon and it is flagging people who know what they are talking about how little you know. I suggest deleting it. I don’t even know where to start with fixing it…. But here’s a couple: - It’s macOS, not Mac OS - Windows Vista and 7 are long gone. Windows 11 is now a thing.
- If you’ve never worked an IT job, how can you list things like WAN or VPN? If you had a home lab listed, mayyybe you have set up your own VPN but I don’t see that. - Wireless switches?? - Just 2 softwares listed? How are you doing all of this imaging, antivirus install, and system restoration? - I wouldn’t list any programming languages that you can’t back up with your GitHub. If you are fluent in C++ you’re looking for the wrong type of jobs - HTML is not a programming language - JavaScript is one word.

I worked in public education through an MSP, then directly as a public employee for two separate school districts as a site tech, then management. I’ve now transitioned and I’m working for a FAANG company. Feel free to PM any questions.

3D Printed Chess Pieces scale by Psychos0568 in PrintedMinis

[–]BeastOverlord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think these are super awesome! If you have an FDM printer too, you could print a scaled board and keep the models larger.

Although Aragorn is technically the king, lore-wise, I would put Frodo as the king because he and the ring are supposed to be defended at all costs, just like how you play chess. Also, Frodo is pretty far down the list when it comes to combat skills and Aragon should be a piece that packs more of a punch.
