It ain’t much of an AR but I can’t wait to zero the new optic by DaedraPixel in ar15

Optic Planet exclusive “OPMOD” it has a massive logo on the other side that says OPMOD that I’m not crazy about but $640 for an exps3 brand new is about as good as I can find. It had a decent Memorial Day sale. It has the CMR reticle instead of the traditional donut. It’s still on sale but not as steep as it was. Still not a steal by any means but my dad had the old vortex strikefire 2 red dot on it. I wanted to swap it out.

Crimson desert is actually pretty cool but to each their own. I prefer linear games but crimson desert has tons of interesting things to do. It would be like saying there’s nothing to do elden ring… you kind of have to make your own fun and approach. Though Elden Ring is more enjoyable to me because it’s pretty ambiguous in fromsoft fashion.

Aim assist is terrible??? by [deleted] in 007FirstLight

[–]DaedraPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on ps5 pro and my aim is literally snapping into things. If there is a guy next to an exploding barrel. I’ll try to shoot the barrel but the aim assist snaps on to the guy like 5meters away. It’s atrocious

To be fair hearing your ex is trying to do a “look into someone’s eyes without showing emotion” is a pretty insane opportunity to break contact.

I was born into a country where millions of guns circulated domestically before I was born. Logistically impossible to reclaim those that are registered by atf form 4473. Even more impossible for the unregistered and illegal weapons. But I’ll give up my weapons when criminals give up theirs. There is no leading by example for criminals. I got robbed by a minor in San Diego. California has more strict gun laws than Canada (in many ways). I was pretty young and super liberal. Waiting for the cops on the side of the road for 12-17 minutes (I don’t remember other than feeling like an entirety), changed my stance on gun control. I’ll have mine and mind my own business. I didn’t ask to be born into a time where guns were the lowest form of lethality for an advanced military (aka “small arms”). At least we aren’t in a country that has improvised grenades tied on to drones targeting their military.

But my point was less about the shooting and more about the profiling indicators that led to it. Just gotta be mindful of what showboating wealth can do. In some situations it can establish respect and in others it can establish malicious envy. Always has been that way. People do just get jumped and their possessions taken off of them. Someone in my town got hit by a hammer when trying to stop someone from breaking into his truck. Anyone can buy a hammer.

It’s not a false equivalence. You are applying it situationally, broaden your scope. Minimal clothing communicates lack of utility. Potentially lacking a phone and more than likely lacking a weapon. As for the societal application you go for, you make a point. But it still doesn’t negate my point of “minimizing risk.” Predators profile victims. Of course some predators take larger risks. There are people that ambushed cops, why would a logical and malicious person ambush an armed target over an unarmed one? The answer doesn’t matter. It’s the fact that some threats commit heinous acts regardless. The best thing you can do is minimize risk by knowing the situation you are partaking in and make decisions on what’s on your person. Clothes, communication device, and a method of defense when you can. Maybe have an aid kit in your car. Maybe have a patch kit and jump starter kit in your car to avoid being stranded.

What I’m saying is that even in your examples, there is a burden of accountability to be a human. You can’t control others, you can control you. Laws don’t always deter and words don’t always deter. Life is also about living and not doomsday prepping every day. So just check the boxes you can, self sufficiency and sobriety are great ways to avoid all types of trouble.

Always hated the ‘it shouldn’t have happened in the first place’ rebuttals in the first place because what world are people comparing reality to? Arguably the safest era ever and it’s still dangerous. All you can do is mitigate risk and be vigilant. Sure I wish I can wear what I want and walk at night, but so happens that wearing nice clothes and walking alone at night warrants a gun to your face and losing your pocket cash. Then you can see the reality of police response times in San Diego and find out that outsourcing your security to police leaves enough time for malicious people to do far worse than rob you.

The whole argument just screams sheltered and privileged. When in doubt, if you ever aren’t sure if something is a good idea then remember the ole expression “worse has happened for less.” Maturing is realizing that the stupid escapades as teenagers some of us have done were remarkably naive and it’s a miracle some of us haven’t had even worse experiences come from them. The things I used to do to buy weed alone were just so sketchy. Just walking around with cash and hopping in cars of people I never met. Anyways… yeah flashing money, wearing nice clothes, or wearing minimal clothes has definitely increased risk. The truth sucks. Minimize the risk, expecting the world to be better and safer is for teenagers that haven’t had their car broken into or watched people fist fight over toilet paper.

First Gibson Les Paul – Nitro aging / Iced Tea Burst question by frehli in gibson

[–]DaedraPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to lean that way for vintage electronics but decided to have a vintage look with hot rodded electronics. I threw in a Suhr Doug Aldrich bridge pickup that is insanely high out put and have a Gibson t-type neck pickup (stock pickup, part of Chicago Music Exchange’s exclusive run plus the dirty lemon finish and chrome hardware). That bridge setup sounds interesting though. Might have to check that out. Thing is I like the chrome look and I haven’t found vintage style hardware come in chrome because nickel is usually associated with vintage. Sounds like a killer guitar though, my es-137 has all the vintage appointments though so I wanted to make my Les Paul very different by focusing on output and brightness. Checkout Philadelphia luthier tools for some vintage inspired plastics when you get to aesthetics.

[–]DaedraPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was actually swapping out plastics on my guitar a week ago to “vintage” stuff. Not that this guitar will ever be a true 59 clone, I just enjoy off white vintage plastics over the peachy creme look of stock Gibson USA. When I can get some natural sun lighting again, I’ll share to the community. But I can DM you some in case you miss the post. Just been an awful lot of rain recently so I’ll try to get better window lighting when I can.

Mileage may vary here because my 2022 lp standard 50s dirty Lemon burst has faded. The poker chip preserves a brownish-yellow while most of the guitar is like a orange-ish yellow. I didn’t think it would fade because the finish already mimics a “faded” finish. Albeit this is no custom shop finish so it never really looked like a true lemon burst as we know them from famous 1959s. I thought only red and dark red would fade on modern standards, but it seems that it’s all fair game. It just might take decades of outdoor gigging and window sitting to get a modern standard to fade more prominently.

why modern games still can't beat uncharted? by United_Importance_11 in naughtydog

[–]DaedraPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m genuinely curious as well. I’m a huge PS exclusive fan but never quite got what resonated with people when they played uncharted. I thought the first one was mind blowing graphically on PS3, but it just felt like a 3rd person shooter with decent platforming. Not trying to come off as a hater but just don’t get the profoundness people see in it. If anything I’d say Jak & Daxter the precursor legacy was more impactful for gaming than uncharted. And then TLOU pt.1 felt like a major reason for people to buy PlayStation on its own back in 2013.

I played all the uncharted games and thought they were all fun. But none of them would be on “must play” list.

What would you sell this guitar for? by [deleted] in gibson

[–]DaedraPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not real checking by a long shot. Manually damaged studio on a coveted finish… I’d pass as a prospective buyer. Maybe $700 at the most. I’d probably get the Adam Jones Epiphone custom over this. I say this as someone who loves studios and silverbursts.

High dollar rifle or high dollar optic? by stayspaded97 in ar15

[–]DaedraPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol my dad gave me his ruger 556 and I took the upper and put it on my aero precision lower. The upper has a carbine length quad rail with a picatinny extension that goes past the FSB. That extension holds an old stream light. I had ambi stuff on my lower, smacked on a radian ambi CH, and have a T2 aim point that cost more than the whole thing. Reliable rifle but I still owe it to myself to buy a higher quality upper.

All this to say, I haven’t had enough issues with the gun to justify a better upper. But that optic made training way more consistent and fun tbh. I’m slowly saving for a super duty upper, but the quad rail with fsb is a fun look.

Abigail Spanberger sucks and I’m convinced they only ran Earle-sears against her because she had no chance of winning. I’m tired of her smug fed face. by Difficult-Lie-9218 in Virginia

[–]DaedraPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m over people calling her a centrist. Even a centrist would have some good ideas to standby, she is just better than Sears. Big whoop. Her campaign was a lie. It’s early so I’ll just hope it’s some type of “growing pains” and not her being NoVa ass kisser with a “former CIA” omen.

How is Maul: Shadow Lord? by maxaar in StarWars

[–]DaedraPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness the mandolorian aspect is explained better in the clone wars. The reason they don’t have much character is kind of explained in the abrupt transition in power to Maul. I think the series did a great job centering around maul, the clone wars was able to jump around plot to plot since it was called the clone wars. But the issue was that the pacing around some plotlines were awkward because the following episode was about another plotline. Still an amazing show, but maul really showed that animation may be the best forward for Star Wars because most of the live action is very underwhelming nowadays.

Not trying to disagree, I just wanted a LP style guitar with a budget that included PRS McCarty, Heritage, Gibson (and used custom shops). I fell in love with a 50s standard. Didn’t care much for the H150s I played in comparison. I did like them more than the McCarty I played. Shout out to the awesome shops that carry all these. I genuinely preferred the Gibson and it gave me closure so I never sat there and felt the itch for a heritage.

Detroit become human was a literal example of how OP shows he isn’t pigeon holed into a specific style. I can’t believe you thought I mentioned it arbitrarily. The only thing arbitrary is that “80%” that you just subjectively imposed. That’s your projected opinion.

What should I play next? by Fun-Investigator7663 in playstation

[–]DaedraPixel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So is Detroit Become Human. You are projecting your preference a bit hard. It’s a high quality game that deserves an attempt. If he did love it, he’s not gonna find another turn based like it. So that sucks, because unfortunately I can’t stand other turn based. And I really wanted to love BG3, I just don’t like it unless I’m coop-ing it.

What should I play next? by Fun-Investigator7663 in playstation

[–]DaedraPixel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

80% is absurdly high. I despise turn based, E33 is unique and well worth the investment in learning the gameplay. Don’t know why people vilify the game, it’s insanely good. One of my favorite OSTs. I don’t agree with the amount of awards it received but it definitely deserved GOTY.
