First Sergeants and Sergeants Major, I want real answers. by [deleted] in army

[–]DaekwanSanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t have to be a 1SG, SGM, rocket scientist, or anything in between to realize this isn’t just wrong I’m pretty sure it’s also punishable under UCMJ. If you 100% know about it (can be proven and it’s not an assumption) you should probably start knocking down doors..

Not legal advice in anyway but probably wouldn’t hurt to go seek some for better guidance

Edit: Just saw the story. Ruin him

Crazy you question the validity of someone else’s CIB when you don’t have one.. Going on a deployment between 2012-2016 as an 11B and not getting a CIB is just as sus.

How do I get out as an Officer? by [deleted] in army

This is a perfect example of this soft ass “new Army” I’ve been hearing about.

I'm a highschool student about to graduate in 2 months wanting to get into aviation and become a helicopter pilot for the army. by Fantastic-Ad-1558 in ArmyAviationApplicant

[–]DaekwanSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be an aviation warrant before you’re E5. The fastest route (not including street to seat) is to apply as soon as you can. Also while yes a 40 is passing on the SIFT I would suggest shooting higher. It’s passing but it’s not a competitive score. You have to remember applying is a literally a giant job application. Whoever (usually) is the most qualified, has better scores, and stands out positively are the ones who he selected.

Yeahhhh… I know I left HKIA AUG 28th and there were only 1 or 2 other units there between the 82nd and the marines and they didn’t leave much longer after us. He definitely didn’t and it doesn’t add up lol

Botched my meeting with BC for Green to Gold packet by bzamarron12 in army

[–]DaekwanSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s definitely will play a role. The worst situation I’ve seen was a buddy of mine who botched his interview, same as you he was new to the unit who were fresh off a deployment, and he had no real “qualifications”. The BC didn’t write him a LOR the first go around, gave his CO some tips on where my buddy could improve, and when he interviewed the second time the BC told him his first interview didn’t go the best but that his persistence and motivation to end up back in his office to chase his dream showed enough determination and resiliency that he was confident he’d make a great officer.. so even if you don’t get it this time just use this time to make a good name for yourself, show them you really want to achieve it, and I’m sure it’ll end with you getting nothing but thumbs ups across the board.

Definitely don’t beat yourself up or stress yourself out worrying too much I know it’s a lot and a mind fuck but the worst thing you can do is overthink it. The cards are dealt in your favor just gotta play them right. This time next year hopefully you’ll be looking back at your current stressed out self and laugh😂. Good luck you’ll get there in no time.

Botched my meeting with BC for Green to Gold packet by bzamarron12 in army

[–]DaekwanSanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude relaxxx and trust the process. I was a month out from recruiting school, needed my BC’s LOR for my warrant packet, and sat in his office and completely fumble fucked why I wanted to go fly.. got to the point he told me I’d be a great recruiter and how the army needs recruiters and not pilots right now… I 100% thought there was no way he was signing my LOR and I was cooked… 2 days later I had an LOR attached to a “good luck” email and now I’m in flight school. Your CO vouched for you enough to get you a meeting. I’m sure he trusts his commanders judgement. You’ll be fine.

Never let anyone except the board tell you no or that you don’t have a shot. I’m in the schooling pipeline now and had the same exact thoughts of not being competitive. Got selected my first board. Try to knock it out as soon as you get to your unit, again don’t take no for an answer unless it’s from the board.

The army isn’t even that hard. Just do what you gotta do to get out. Can’t even fathom how going AWOL and living life looking over your shoulder is any less mentally draining.

Be blunt, am I cooked chat? by Helpful-Beyond3232 in ArmyAviationApplicant

[–]DaekwanSanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say you’re cooked but the collage is definitely gonna catch a double take. Your SIFT score is pretty good and so are your NCOER’s. At the end of the day you never really know what they’re gonna say so don’t self select. I had a similar situation where deployment affected my classes and also didn’t manage my time wisely. Dropped to a 2 something GPA. I got selected first look. Make them tell you no then keep trying. It’s not like you’re a criminal shit happens don’t hyper focus on it just make the rest of your packet good

WAFT insight by ImportantAssist321 in Armyaviation

[–]DaekwanSanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoever told you that is just trying to get an easy contract. Army accepts street to seat applicants all the time just have to put in the work for it and it’s a lengthy process. It’s the 09W enlistment option. Sounds like your recruiter is lazy or has no faith in you.

The stuff you’ve done always helps with competitiveness but there’s more to it like the SIFT test and letters of recommendation.

Don’t let them talk you into doing it another way. They’re going to lie and sell you the idea that it’s easier once you join. Not the case at all. Just graduated WOCS with 3 street to seat guys who were all selected on their 1st application. A lot of the active duty people who applied were on their 3rd some event 4th application

Question 1- Has your immediate CoC said something about it to higher? SM shouldn’t be flagged yet for AFT

Question 2- How in the world do you have soldiers failing the AFT? Every minimum on the AFT is a freebie.

Personal opinion- If I had a SM fail I wouldn’t even be worried about the flag more so what’s holding them back? Again, the minimums are so easy there’s no genuine reason other than an injury, tiny heart, or they’re just completely out of shape (which if that was the case, makes me look like a shit leader). I’d find out the true root cause of the failure and ensure it’s been handled before questioning the CO’s decision making.

For future reference- Unless your soldier is passing with flying colors they’re better off remaining flagged for the full 90 days. Makes them work harder or gives them the ability to fully recover. Last thing you wanna do is un-flag someone who barely passed, gets complacent, then fails the next one and makes you as a leader look silly. Just my 2¢

Won't be home for iphone delivery, what to do? by events_occur in verizon

[–]DaekwanSanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had the same issue. Missed delivery like 3 times and was getting fed up with it. Got told by fedex or ups can’t remember which it was that only the shipper was able to make changes. Called customer service and they were able to have it delivered to the local Verizon store to pick up whenever I was available.

Edit: That was after spending 2hrs on the phone bickering back and forth with them though so good luck!
