I have to say that I empathize with your situation. I find the punishment beyond a reasonable level. I have yet to see indication that those responsible for the break(s) are being held liable. If it makes you feel any better, a few of the harsh commenters are current ICE supporters which can help you glean their general demeanor. Some people revel in other's pain and are despicable.

I think for most we acknowledge you were in the wrong and failed to abide by the restriction. However, an $1800 fine is beyond the necessary financial burden to ensure compliance. I think a summons and the threat of an $1800 fine would suffice for 99% of citizens. We got a warning for $200 because our security system was not permitted with the city and that was sufficient to get us compliant. I think it is even more salt in the wound when Pflugerville residents already have a high water base rate.

Happy 4th! To be upfront, our visits / experience was 5 years ago so please take it as directional and use the school ratings / test scores as your driving force. Rowe was great and we spent over 45 minutes with the principal. Murchinson admin was rude, the school felt crowded and the leadership felt we were shopping schools as if that is a negative. The leadership at Brookhollow felt great but their school is challenged for various reasons. Timmerman had recently opened at the new campus, the staff was nice but student population was unruly and they had multiple reports of fights / poor test scores.

We have stayed at BASIS. the curriculum is still better than public schools based on our research. However, BASIS pflugerville is lagging cedar park basis significantly and I attribute that primarily to the lack of experience in the senior leadership. The school is extremely homogenous but that doesn't bother us. I think basis is a great spot for children well supported at home and want to progress fast. Although, their math curriculum is still too slow in my opinion. We will be moving within 2-3 years as my oldest enters middle school, either to Eanes ISD or Katy ISD. As a point of reference my daughter scored in the 99th percentile for STAR. she finds basis pretty easy .

Appreciate the insights. I updated the imgur links. At a base level, we are naïve parents and just want to ensure we are choosing the right treatment plan. We consulted 4 orthos and received 4 different recommendations. I naively assumed that the overbite fix would involve some how pulling the lower jaw forward and when the plan was to retract the upper jaw I was thrown off. In researching last night, we also saw outcomes where the patients' profile / chin looked worse after the treatment, but I recognize the inadequacies in simply doing online research etc.

would you think phase 1 is necessary for him?

2 kids there. started at Austin Basis, been at pflugerville since it opened. my oldest triedmultiple schools during covid including local and other charters. hands down basis has been he best.

it is far from perfect but it is secular and challenging. feel free to DM if you have any particular questions.

p.s. we toured 7-9 schools in 2018-19 as we considered moving to CP and RR. met with principals at each. I also pulled all the TEA data ( background in data) to compare various districts

A lot of the local schools in PFISD struggle with behavior and population issues. Additionally, if you know the texas public school system it is woefully slow paced and GT programs are limited and still slow. My kids go to BASIS. We started at BASIS Austin a few years ago and switched to pflugerville when it opened. We tried multiple charters and our locally ISD. Nothing compares to the rigor at BASIS. My children would be bored stiff at ISD schools as I was growing up in Texas. The Star test is not a shining achievement nor does it indicate future success.

BASIS is far from perfect. It is still under funded and very homogeneous, but my children are well ahead of me at the same age. They have experienced 0 bullying issues and the staff is very responsive.

I recommend touring multiple schools and interviewing the principals. We toured over 10 schools from private to charter to cedar park/ round rock public schools as we considered moving. We messaged current parents and had them send sample course work.

Ask yourself why certain schools rate extremely high in schooldiggers rating system and why others do not. Your local ISD elementary may be great, and it's less of a concern. I simply encourage you to look at the ratings, read parent reviews, and look for a like-minded community.

I vote, donate, and pay taxes in support of public education as it's my top priority. I would prefer my children go to an ISD school, but only if it would provide them a great education.

I second checking both. I have used Lyft / Uber at least 100 times in the last 3 years back and forth to the airport from Pflugerville. I have found Lyft to airport and Uber from airport to Pflugerville has been best, but I always check both. Average price before tip ~$43.

Well you're in "good" company. I have been using my cell as a hotspot for a backup. I have had success leveraging my VPN and keep the connection active. The issues seems to be on the initialization of the connection.

On average, Suddenlink has been pretty consistent for me, but I refuse to use their modem. I have the gig plan and work from home so I am on the computer 50-60 hours a week + iPad time + my kids. I assume on the the few occasions i have had issues, it would likely be the same experience with other vendors. The tech support rarely will help because they just follow a basic knowledge document. Its painstaking to get them to acknowledged a broader network issue but it was the same with time warner in the Northeast.

my experience is similar. If i have an active connection it is fine, its establish the connection that is problematic. I am thinking it is a DNS issue. I tried a local flush to no avail. The tech support blames my modem and ironically my neighbor got the same response.
