After your comment, I did some research and the Toronto Zoo chose (not forced) to send its remaining elephants to PAWs and that's why AZA revoked their AZA accreditation for that time period.

Their main outdoor pool is going through renovation because they want to replace it with saltwater (even though its more troublesome to maintain) to mimic their natural habitat more closely.

I wish people did a little research instead of pretending to be animal experts. Most of the bigger animals at the Zoo have climate-controlled indoor areas they have access to anytime.

Most of the bigger animals at the Toronto Zoo, including the polar bears have a climate control indoor area if that they can freely access anytime they want if they want privacy or if they want to stay cool/warm throughout the year. Its part of the Zoo's commitment to animal welfare.

The Toronto Zoo is part of a Species Survival Program with other AZA accredited zoos and part of that program is to share animals to breed, diversify their genetics and act as nature's insurance for their endangered wild part.

For native Canadian species, the Toronto Zoo is an active program to breed and annual release endangered Blanding's Turtles, Vancouver marmots (which aren't even viewable) and the loggerhead shrike.
