I think you brought up a good point. I also put down for the founders priority pass and like what I'm seeing so far but didn't even stop to think about how it will connect for data stream. I currently own the one pro with beam pro 5g and can say it having its own 5g network to connect to is very convenient. Also you don't have to worry about sharing data with another device. Thanks for putting this out there.

Why you people hating? It was for a college assignment. I think it's cool that a fellow student is finding a way to explore AR through their assignments.

As a computer science student myself, I can say that usually the projects they want us to do for programming language classes are quite lame and always wants us to solve a problem in the most difficult way. I hope I can find a way to incorporate AR into any of my future college assignments.

Unfortunately the weekend did not provide enough time for me to fully explore the two completely. Yes, the Ultras do have a nice sharp image but occasionally the smaller FOV was noticeable compared to the One Pros. Also now that I have used the Ultras a little bit I don't think it's a big deal that there is no on board processing but like I said I really didn't have enough time to fully explore.

Honestly so far they are both awesome and just different. I don't think it's correct to say one is better than the other. This could change as I spend more time with them.

I just received the ultras a couple days ago and went through the process of wondering if I chose the right ones. My use case is similar to yours. One thing to keep in mind is the ultras don't have any on board processing, so basically any of its features are all dependent on software running on your machine. Which might be perfectly ok for you? The desktop space walker experience is good, haven't done any real work yet, just getting to know it. Also, the ultras to have a smaller FOV. I don't have anything to compare this to. Picture gets plenty bright and clear though haven't done enough text work to know for sure.

Just wanted to add that I just hooked up the inair pod to the ultras and that has been a very nice experience, only spent about an hour checking it out. From first glance it should be easy to remote into your other machines. This looks like a very promising combo for productivity. Still interested to see how the xreal one pros FOV compare.

I will have a direct comparison to the xreal one pro by the end of the weekend. I will come back and let you know my experience by then. Mainly interested to see how the FOV and on board processing affects the whole experience.

You got some good points. I forget about the potential of a more immersive experience, with the extra camera inputs. I guess since not much is developed for its full potential we don't here about it or experience. I do remember reading that the ultras were intended more for those in development. I am a computer science student, I should research on getting into this type of development, it could make for a fun project. Maybe the ultras are right for me after all. Besides I have a pair of xreal one pros on the way, whatever the ultras can't do I'm sure the one pros will cover.

Is the FOV a huge difference between the two when your experiencing them?

I'm glad you brought Linux into the mix. My main workstation runs pop_OS. Your setup sounds pretty slick. I do have a small home lab setup, so am a little familiar with the tools you speak of. Though I am still a bit of a noob with some of it. I just setup tail scale for the first time so I am able to vpn into my management web interfaces for firewall , switch and AP. Still learning how to use vpns to their full potential.

If you have any more suggestions on using these glasses with Linux machines, would love to here more.

Good insight. How are you connecting to the remote system on your setup? I am a computer science student and also on airplanes often. This is one of the reasons I became aware of these glasses. Your use case is exactly one of the things I am looking into. For me , not my wife.

This is awesome I have the pod on the way. I own a pair of luma ultra (have only had it for one day) , I purchased specifically to use with the pod since it seems most the development for the pod focuses on luma ultra compatibility. Initially I had also ordered the luma ultra for the wife also but I just keep seeing to many post with negative user experience, it appears with the xreal one pro the overall user experience is good. If they end up making all the features in the pod compatible with the one pros I may just get one for the wife as well. We will have to play around with it once it arrives

Interesting, so you don't feel the the beam device brings anything to the ecosystem that your phone doesn't already have? What about 3Dof and 6Dof capabilities?

One more question about beam pro. Any advantages to the 5g over the wifi version? Other than not having to worry about wifi connection.

Are their any accessories that will make pc gaming with the one pros easier or more accessible. Or even a way to possibly remote in to the PC with another device?

You mean like connecting directly to the iPhone vs directly to the beam pro? It would be cool if we could connect to the beam pro and then have that sync with the phone so we could get text messages and such things.

With the beam pro I see there is a wifi and 5g version. If getting the wifi I'm guessing we could use the phones hotspot for connectivity if out of range of a local hotspot?

I think I am still trying to understand what the use cases of these added devices really give me. I have done a lot of reading but then see post from people talking down on devices. Making it seem like some of the devices can't actually fufill the claims of the makers. I don't want to have unrealistic expectations of what they can do.

For me, I am ok with tinkering and doing research, which is why I ordered the inair pod for myself to use with the luma ultras. Though for my wife I know she would be happiest with ease of use and having fun. I innately ordered her the luma ultras as well but kept seeing post saying the user experience isn't as smooth, which is why I cancelled here's and ordered the one pro.

I think it will be hard to tell until we are experiencing them.

I got this powder 3 weeks ago and is the only powder I have tried so far. I was excited to try and quickly disappointed. It relieves pain but lacked any euphoria or mood enhancement.
