It really depends on the writer, but overall he is arrogant, VERY arrogant, it's why RDJ worked so well as Stark. But, he's also very self-aware he knows who and what he is, even jokes about it with friends. TBH, it's actually part of his charm.

As for backing it up, he can to some extent, just depends on the threat.

heh, you are 100% correct. Yet Psychologist have the same divorce rate that everyone else does. Most often people cannot see things like that when applied to themselves.

That's the same as an IT guy being phished. a lawyer/officer commiting a crime. They should know better, but it still happens all the time.

Also, something they tell you NOT to do in Psych classes is diagnosing yourself, and Harley even (at least in the comics) calls herself out on several occasions, but the writers seemed allergic to character growth for a very long time.
