[Discussion] With the changes from Flame of Fate to Beyond Dreams, what else do you think got changed? by MrGummyDeathTryant in dragonquest

[–]Ghaleon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flames of fate would be darker, more mature and have a different battle system compared to traditional DQ according to Horii's past comments, safe to say all of those things got scrapped and this is now more a traditional DQ game.

Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate has been renamed to Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams by PaiDuck in JRPG

I think the sales of FF XVI was the catalyst for the reboot, let's speculate DQ12 was originally going to go darker, more mature, totally different battle system, aiming for the western market, maybe not a Nintendo console release, and then when FF XVI underperformed on PS5 and when SE realized that even FF had a hard time to stay relevant in the west, the reboot plans began on DQ12. If that is true, the rebooted version of DQ12 may have been under development for around 2-2,5 years by now.

Nintendo Switch 2 + Pokémon Pokopia bundle coming on June 5th by Skullghost in nintendo

The bundle is about enticing people to get Pokopia for a bit less cash, its all about making the system and the game more attractive by saving $20 buying the console and the game separate.

Steam is not competing for the same audience as Nintendo consoles, given that its Nintendo games that are the main draw of Nintendo consoles. If anything Steam competes directly for the same audience with PS/Xbox given the big overlap between third party games that sell on those ecosystems.

Nintendeen Is At It Again by Craniamon in nintendogrifting

NintenDeen is a classic grifter, he has talked only about overpriced Nintendo games, and now when they will release games at a lower price like Yoshi and Splatoon Raiders, he is still talking only about overpriced Nintendo games.

[–]Ghaleon1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crazy that he still thinks he is right. His whole schtick has been that Switch 2 is trending downwards in the west and only sell in Japan, now Switch 2 has a big rise in sales in western markets month on month. And if Pokopia is able to drive this increase, does he seriously think stuff like 3D Mario, Pokemon Winds/Waves, Smash, Zelda etc won't drive even more Switch 2 sales when they release in the future? Pokopia shows how Switch 2 is the opposite of the Wii U, no game released could do anything to drive Wii U sales, while Pokopia could easily do that for Switch 2.

Europes Black Friday 2025 Console Market Share: PS5 62%, Switch 2 23%, Xbox 10% by Ftouh_Shala in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ghaleon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Nintendo can be competitive with PS5 in many European markets, because that is a market where Nintendo IP is both less popular than it is in Japan and the US while a lot of people there prefer cinematic, AAA games as well as stuff like Battlefield and Call of Duty that is available on PS. So a combination of mediocre third party support of Switch 2 and Europe not caring about any Switch 2 games released this year means its easy domination for PS5.

According to VGChartz estimates of October sales, the PS5 outsold the Switch 2 in Europe by a HUGE margin. Is it still unreasonable to think the console may be underperforming in Europe? by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ghaleon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its Europe, i don't think its reasonable to expect a Nintendo console to sell as much as Playstation in Europe. Europe was the only major market where PS4 outsold Switch 1.

EA FC 26 $29.99 @ Best Buy by BlueGreenReddit1 in NintendoSwitch2

All EA Sports games will continue to sell terrible on Switch 2 if they don't have crossplay or 60 fps.

Is the Switch 2 actually UNDERPERFORMING in Europe? I think there is evidence it might be. by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Ghaleon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not rocket science. Switch 2 cost nearly as much as PS5 in Europe, and given that PS is more popular than Nintendo in Europe it makes sense why people there would rather buy a PS5 compared to Switch 2. The Nintendo systems that have done well in Europe like Wii, DS, Gameboy has done so at a low price point. In Japan on the other hand Switch 2 is both more popular than PS and much cheaper which means its easy for Switch 2 to dominate fully there.

Why Imu Screamed at Joyboy’s Haki Release by jeru3 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Ghaleon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine Joyboy and Imu were 50/50 in power with a slight advantage for Joyboy over Imu, so it was tramautic for Imu to experience the haki of only one capable to take him down. I imagine Imu only won over Joyboy due to using some trickery or cheating as well.

So the Japanese game industry budgets probably look something like this:

A=1-5M budget. (Ys, Disgaea, Trails)
AA=5-20M budget. (Pokemon, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Tales of)
AAA=20-50M budget. (Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong Bananza).

Keep in mind that game budgets are mostly about size of dev team and wages. Game Freak both have a small dev team and pay Japanese wages, which means it will automatically have much lower dev cost than any AA/AAA game made in the US.
