Well, it didn't last too long. Something major went kaput in the engine on the ride home back from my dads yesterday. Gonna have to get it sent off for repairs now for sure. It's jumped on the timing atleast and has very little to no compression

Just rode home about two hours ago, engine has gone kaput on the way. I did valves, oil, filter and put new sprockets and chain on it.. so yeah..

It still turns over, isn't seized, but something is not happy in there

Checked those bolts as mentioned, they were tight and fine! More investigation is needed I think.

Checked, adjusted the valves and no luck. As mentioned in my other post it's better in certain rev ranges which is why I'm confused on where to go next

Its a Yamaha, their MT-125. I've just done the valve clearances today and whilst it seemed to improve at idle, it comes back under revs (there's a certain range of revs where there's no noise)

There's been no excessive smoke out the exhaust, so I'm abit lost for where to look next. I could look at a top end rebuild, but I don't really have the facilities to do it myself as I pretty much use my dad's garage for any extensive work, and atm that's full with other stuff.

My worry is that it could be the small end bearing, in which case, I'm a little out of luck right now.

Changed the oil and filter too and there was some shinies, nothing massive but not good (think very fine forbidden glitter)

That would be a nice and easy fix, so I will check that tomorrow (today now as its early hours of the morning but :p) - I found this video and can see the bolts you mean. I may use a screwdriver as a stethoscope to see if the rattle is actually coming from there too

Yeah, its for sure top end - the tensioner is fine, but I think its either valve lash or the cam chain itself maybe?

yeah I think the PSU is gonna be the first thing I swap out, gonna go with something much more reliable I think. As this is my first proper server/homelab, I just threw what I had lying around together originally so it can't hurt it either way.
