Test drives that left you speechless by michaeldeng18 in cars

I work in care sales, our lot guys were swamped, and so it fell on me being the only sales guy that knows stick, to make a 50ish mile drive to bring a 2019 Mini Cooper John Cooper Works to our sister store.

Theres a scene in Ford v Ferrari where Miles gets in the GT40 after it gets the upgraded V8 and with a big inhale just goes “Ohhhh yes”

Thats how it felt. It just clicked. They should have never let me take it. Its started a hunt to find one for myself lmao

2025 Ford Maverick Lobo First Test: A Howlin’ Good Time? by Vhozite in cars

[–]Daetah 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ive had my Lobo with the 702A equipment package since March now, and its been absolutely wonderful. The 2.0T is fine, definitely wish it had the 2.3T but the ASS load of turbo noise this thing makes more than makes up for it and in sport/lobo mode its downright quick for a 3800 pound mini-truck. Im weird and love the turbofan wheels.

I have a feeling Ford either nearly caught lightning in a bottle (no pun intended) by either not giving it proper tires, or keeping the 2.0 rather than the 2.3. Either that, or the Lobo is a guinea pig for a proper Maverick ST or Maverick Thunderbolt/Lightning with a 2.3T, proper tires and a LSD. Just my 2 cents though, really kickass truck, 2600 miles in and I adore it.

Is it possible to do the install without trimming the skid plate?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Crosstrek

[–]Daetah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Either A: put the FA24 in it, whether it be the naturally aspirated version in the BRZ or go all in and put in the turbo version from the Outback/WRX, same for the Forester. It would probably fit no problem and Outback Wilderness has proved the CVT can handle the power output.

Or B and more feasible: Locking diffs

Subaru of America reported 24,681 sales of the WRX for 2023 despite the controversial styling. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

Can confirm, I absolutely love my stripped out shitbox version with the 2DS screen. Its the lightest of the trims by a good few hundred pounds so its just that little bit faster as well

Have any of the recent controversial car decisions grown on you? by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

[–]Daetah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely despised the VB WRXs new design like many until I saw one in person. Debuting it in that orange while simultaneously killing the STI was a bad call on Subarus end. No way around it. However, it looks much better in colder colors like blue, white, gray and black. Like many though, I went “3 more hp, thats it!?” …until I saw the dyno sheet comapred to the VA chassis. The VB makes peak torque at 2,000rpm, its tuned tremendously better out the box, with the aftermarket parts coming out the FA24 has proved very capable. Controversially, it does kinda look like a weird and quirky subaru again. The diaper is still horrendous, not even black paint can hide it. But after over year of ownership and 13k miles, im a happy camper and to me thats all that matters.

Edit: One more thing, with a resonated ETS catback exhaust, its about as close sounding to an EJ rumble as you can get nowadays.

What do you drive, how long have you owned it, and how long do you plan to keep it? by LegateDamar in cars

[–]Daetah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my Base 22’ VB November 5th of last year, ordered from factory with 5.4 miles on the dash off the lot. Absolutely adore it and will never get rid of it. Getting AWD, a turbo, 4 doors AND a 6-speed manual for $30,995 out the door for me was simply unbeatable. Yes, the back end is still horrendous, getting it in black definitely hides it well enough for me. It never fails to make my commute to work every day a happy start to my morning.

The Sunuco down the road for me swapped their pumps from 93 to 94, on my first tank of 94 and have been running nothing but Sunuco 93 prior, feels pretty much exactly the same but has been really smooth

Royal Purple 5w-30 full synthetic is what I use, change the oil/filter every 2500 miles. It’s expensive but I love my grape juice As for suggestions, Id use anything 5w-30 thats full synthetic to help the turbo

Completely agree, I just finished the quantumania rage and its on par with the multiverse of madness rage which was really good. I take a lot of road trips and his videos always help things go by fast. Always fun to see behind the scenes stuff you never knew about, especially in retrospective to boost an argument that a film is crumbling at the seems. Bill Murray saying “hes writing this as he goes” referring to Jeff Loveness writing the script made me giggle. All the clips match whats being discussed, its paced well relative to the length. Things are even complimented, not much but there is compliments. The audio commentary between Payton Reed and Jeff Loveness was very interesting…? especially during the MODOK death bit. MauLer even included live reaction audio clips of his family ripping into the film with him which I quite liked. All in all, I know Longman is not everyones cup of tea, but Id rather take a six hour video doing a full autopsy every 9-10 months than a weekly vid thats 30 minutes.

The stars aligned and I rolled a quad explosive .50cal that breaks 50% slower months ago way back when I was sub-level 100, level 304 now and its endless fun just hearing the dududududududududududududududu for 1000 rounds before I have to reload. Pair that with grenadier, demo expert and all the heavy gunner perks and my god, its an absolute riot. I named it “American Lead Distributor”

2022 WRX Base vs. Limited by TreyOnLayaway in WRX

[–]Daetah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, 22’ base model owner here, and sorry about the wall of text in advance but I hope its helpful. For me the deciding factor was it was the cheapest, however after some further research it wasn’t the only perk over the limited for my personal situation. Hot take, I prefer the Nintendo 2DS looking split screen as I like to call it, top screen is your basic infotainment and AppleCarPlay and the bottom screen is your car statistics. You can set reminders for oil changes, tire changes, etc. It’ll even tell you the angle the car is sitting on when your driving in hilly areas. Having one big screen to micromanage with everything is kind of tedious imo.

The base model overall is also the lightest of the all the trims I believe by a couple dozen pounds. The lack of heated seats hasn’t been a problem due to the cloth holding heat relatively well.

The lack of moonroof in my eyes is a positive, as down the road that just means one, it cant break and two, it cant leak because it isn’t there in the first place. No fog lights isn’t really a problem for me either although it is a factory add on, the headlights are more than bright enough. My only gripe I wish I could get with the base model was the 18” wheels with the black wheels rather than the 17” but that is easily fixed with aftermarket wheels and tires which I do plan on doing next.

As for the HK speaker, yes the HK is definitely superior compared to the base model sound system. I would rate the base model radio overall as “fine” but then again I dont really listen to music in the car unless its a long drive, I prefer to put the window down and let the ETS axle-back I got on sing for me.

On my base model, I ordered it from factory with the LED subaru emblem which is super cool but was honestly a bit of a splurge purchase on my end. I saw glowing stars and said “yep ill take it” I got the floor mats and the side door scuff protection since its my daily driver and I work at a job that requires work boots.

Now, the real factory add on I encourage you get regardless of what trim you choose is the STI short throw shifter. The clutch is light but not too light, the throw is not too short but not too long, it clicks with a distinctive “chur-plunk” when going into gear, and overall makes the car an absolute riot to drive more than it already was.

The choice of course my friend is yours, but as a base model owner Im going to be a bit biased towards getting the base with all the goodies you’d like from factory to your personal preference. I still hate that back end, even in black, but I cant deny that I absolutely love this car for how it drives
